I sold my PS3 because I rarely play it and I am watching less and less Blu-Ray movies. Now, I am on the hunt for a solid but very cheap Blu-Ray player. I don't care what brand it is but only have two requirements:
1 - The load times aren't extremely slow
2 - I have a receiver that only does uncompressed PCM sound so that is why the PS3 was perfect.
Please help -- Thanks in advance!
You seldom watched Blu-Rays and now you want to buy a player a long time after selling your ps3, why?
A player or drive?
No, I just sold my PS3 yesterday because it was pretty much just a big, loud, expensive seldom used Blu-Ray player (I had the big original 20 gig) - I want a CHEAP Blu-Ray player for my TV because I own a lot of Blu-Rays still.
A player.. not a drive.
The LG and Toshiba make quality players for not alot of cash.
Philips, sony and samsung make the better ones but are exspensive.
Stay away from unknown brands.
Do you have any models in particular to recommend? There are a ton out there but hard to find any technical reviews on them..
Initially the PS3 was the cheapest Blu-Ray player out there.
Why the hell did you sell it if it worked you?
Get a drive and hook your pc up on your tv.
My old fat PS3 was hot and loud + having a PS3 controller as a remote SUCKED. I paid almost $300 for it and sold it for not much less. I am getting ready for a PC upgrade so I wanted to be able to pocket some cash and just buy a cheap, decent player to have around. It's living room with wife so PC is not an option :)
You can get a proper remote for the PS3.
Even if it is expensive.

He already sold it just answer his question and stop questioning him.
OP just go to your nearest electronics store and grab the cheapest LG.
LOL -- Thanks Chickens. I already sold the PS3 so I don't need advice on PS3.. :)
Just wondering if anyone had any inexpensive standalone players that were a great value.
If you want a solid and cheap blu-ray player then id go with a Ps3.

This is what my family has back home.
It has netflix and all those other features, but even if you don't need them it's a great blu-ray player in itself and upscales dvds.

Compared to most decent Blu-ray players, the PS3 is cheap and provides everything they do and more. There is a reason people recommended them a while ago you know.

Yes but the above Blu-Ray player above plays Blu-Rays and is a third of the price of the PS3.
OP doesn't want an and more, he wants a fucking Blu Ray player.
Thanks for the link/info on the LG player. That one looks really nice! My position is a bit unique since I need to be able to go PCM from Blu-Ray player to receiver.. I'll dig further into the LG specs and hopefully find that info..

Hence why I jammed "a while ago" onto the end. People stopped recommending them as cheaper ones appeared obviously.
