It seems like only yesterday they were celebrating the 10th birthday by selling half-life 1 on steam for about $1 each.
15 years! 15 is 3x5. Half Life 3 confirmed in 5 years.
I remember playing half-life in '99 on my grandfathers PC. I would have been about 8. I would play until shortly after the resonance cascade then I'd become too scared of the zombies and quit. I also used to love running around the multiplayer maps alone in LAN mode.
Those were the days.. Thank you for making me feel old.
It really was amazing. I still don't understand how I could spend hours on end running around the same map in LAN mode and never get bored.

I didn't actually finish half life till 2004

I remember finishing half life, but I had to use cheats for nihilanth I was either terrible back then or that fucker had way more health on the WON version
Kinda expecting a midweek sale/daily deal to be the half-life franchise. I hope so really, got a friend I'm hoping to buy for.
I also used to love running around the multiplayer maps alone in LAN mode.
Oh shit, I did that too! I also spawned items to make certain areas look like weapon stockpile rooms. I could handle the zombies, it was the Black Ops assassins that had me quit out of fright. Initially I could only proceed with cheats from that point.
First time I played half life was on my big brothers computer. I think I was about 7 and he asked if I wanted to play it. I was kinda surprised because his computer always seemed like his personal thing. He was playing deathmatch on that level with the warehouse that has the secret behind the stack of boxes. Was so fun. And from that I discovered scientist slaughterhouse, sven co-op, they hunger, all those brilliant mods. It's what got me into pc gaming and being a fan of valve. ...I really want half life 3.
I remember finishing half life, but I had to use cheats for nihilanth I was either terrible back then or that fucker had way more health on the WON version
The puzzle is that you got to shoot the crystals that power the nihilanth to kill him. I don't think you shoot him until they are all destroyed.
I remember being scared of the hazard course :|
I first played through HL1 with Jaykin Bacon: Source. The hilarity of pretending to be Revolver Ocelot took the edge off a little, but it was still a hella fun game for one of its time.
I first got exposed to Half-Life from a friend who owned the Op4/Blue-Shift/Team Fortress pack. Then I got it too and eventually learned about skinning and texturing. I remember I used to spawn Grunts with the "Grunt-O-Matic" Impulse 76 console command all the time or when I used to play the MP maps with a bot command because I couldn't connect to the WON servers.
I remember hearing Half-Life when it came out. I did not play it until a PlayStation Magazine demo disc when it was released on PlayStation 2. I quickly nabbed the game at a EB game store afterwards from how good the demo was. I was addicted to the deathmatch mode, especially after discovering tau cannon launcher. I remember that damn secret code for a level which, after years of looking for issue 57 disc of PlayStation magazine, turned out to be the demo, Uplink :v:
I also used to love running around the multiplayer maps alone in LAN mode.
Holy crap, I thought I was the only one who did that. I enjoyed it so much. Placing sticky bombs onwalls and just looking at those lasers was fascinating to see. I remember a room somewhere, where I couldn't get to. I always thought that there were enemies to kill there. Man, it feels like I did it yesterday...
Well then I guess it's a good occasion to make myself a HL marathon, with all hl games, from HL1 to HL3.....oh wait
I loved spamming tripmines in the multiplayer maps, and then making it a challenge to get through the room without exploding.
Not only was the game itself a great memory of my childhood, but the mods as well. Countless hours played in Sven Coop, Brainbread and They Hunger.
I wish I played Half-Life back when I was playing Quake and Dark Forces and those games. I wish I would have knew about it. Only reason I got into Half-Life was because my bro bought HL2 when they had the GOTY thing with CSS and Deathmatch
I remember playing Half-Life with my older brother a lot as a kid. It was the game that introduced me to gaming at a very young age (I was about 4 or 5), and even to this day I find myself revisiting it from time to time.
Going to play thought the series starting today. HL > Op4 > BS > HL2 > Lost Coast > Ep.1 > Ep.2. I know Valve are currently showing how innovative they can be, but I really want them to come back to Earth for a bit and make the next Half-life game, whether it be Episode 3 or Half-Life 3. I'm patient enough to wait for it, and I'm sure when it's released it will be excellent, but it's been so long.
