So, I was just applying for an ESTA thingy to travel into the U.S. for a holiday. Here's a couple gems I had to agree to.
By pressing the "Apply" button in the application process, applicants agree not to dispute any administrative fee charged by CBP for the use of the ESTA system, and further acknowledge that there are no refunds.
They can, in theory, charge me whatever the fuck they want, since I've agreed not to dispute the fee, nor are there any refunds. Well crap :v:
Upon arrival to the United States, you will be inspected by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer at a port of entry who may determine that you are inadmissible under the Visa Waiver Program or for any reason under United States law.
So clicking 'agree' basically gets me a free handjob with some anal reach-around? Oh, I am SO in for this!
Are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities?
Really? Do you even have to ask? Has anyone ever entered the U.S. WITHOUT the intend of breaking the law over and over?
Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage; or in terrorist activities; or genocide; or between 1933 and 1945 were you involved, in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany or its allies?
Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my KGB boss yelling at me while I'm trying to crash this airplane full of Jewish orphrans into the Empire State.
Have you ever detained, retained or withheld custody of a child from a U.S. citizen granted custody of the child?
No. Little Billy is MY kid, and I don't care what his mother says. MINE! So yeah. Anyone ever actually read the ELUA, and if so, ever found any gems? I know the Steam one contains a few, too.
I never read them
Oh yeah, here we go.
Valve may cancel your Account or any particular Subscription(s) at any time. In the event that your Account or a particular Subscription is terminated or cancelled by Valve for a violation of this Agreement or improper or illegal activity, no refund, including of any Subscription fees, will be granted.
Valve can, if they want, shut down your steam account, and with it, all of your games. Or one game in particular, if they fell like it. In either case, you get jack shit in return.
