• Made someone mad, potentially getting ddos'd(ipconfig /release & renew not working)

So I was playing a game of tf2, and some guy that I got perm banned(hacking) on a previous server a couple of years ago got on, and started hacking on this server. I got an admin on to ban him, and as soon as he left my internet went down. Its been going down several times now. I tried doing ipconfig /relase and /renew but my default gateway and ipv4 was the same with either command. I tried going into properties to the IPV4/IPV6 and putting in a diff ip etc. Didn't work, I've tried resetting my router several times as well. My internet was down for a good while till I did a system restore and now I'm on the internet. I only downloaded two games since the system restore so i don't think it was something I downloaded. I moved my cable into one of the different plugs in my modem and unplugged it then. I'm not 100% sure if i'm getting ddos'd but my internet went out at that same time, so I'm thinking he may be doing it over and over. but i was wondering if anyone knows any other ways to change my IP or if you know why ipconfig /release and renew is not working. Thanks!
Call your ISP (Comcast/verizon/ect.) and ask for a new IP. I don't think they'll ask you any questions but if they do just say your logs show large overflow heading your way.
In the Source Engine there is no conventional way for one player on a server to see another players IP address, unless they have RCON or access to the server logs. The only other way I know of getting peoples IP addresses on Steam is by running a packet sniffer while initiating a voice chat in the friends dialog. Without the guy knowing your IP address, he can't attack you. The only way you can know if you're being attacked is bring up your router and look at the logs. If you're getting tons of traffic right when it turns on, then it indicates you have a potential attack going on. But in order for you to get a new IP address, you're going to have to unplug your cable/DSL modem for hours. Cable/DSL networks generally have long lease times and it can take up to 24 hours of your cable modem/DSL modem to grab a new IP address. But even assuming a skid was attacking you, they usually get bored after a few hours and move their attention to something else, so you can just weather the storm.

Servers with things such as sourcebans or gameme stats has players ips just flopped right out. Found his IP in 3 minutes I unplugged my router while I slept, internet has only been out twice (happened just 30 minutes ago, both times). i'll call my isp provider soon, tried logging into the modem but it was the wrong username and/or pass.
