OK here's my problem. I'm having my Macbook Pro 15" 2.66 Ghz for over a week now, and I love it. It's my first notebook and my first Mac product, and it's just awesome. However, I'm having a few problems with the internet. First of all: the mail problem.
I have a Gmail account with IMAP enabled. I can log in to the GMail webinterface most of the time just fine (sometimes I'm just getting a white page), but I cannot send or read my e-mail, go to settings etc. Now when I'm using it in Mail or Entourage with IMAP, I'm able to receive all my mail just fine. However, I still cannot send a thing. Same for my Windows Live e-mail (only the webinterface though, IMAP isn't available as far as I know)
Second is the files uploading problem. I have a Rapidshare premium account, and when I try to upload a file (a jpeg image) that is 120 kb, in Safari it first says the estimated upload time is 10 minutes, and then it jumps to 2000 minutes. That's a bit long for a 120 kb file when you are able to upload that on your PC in a second. In Firefox though, it doesn't display anything, not even the estimated time left and the percentage of completion. I think this also has to do with no MSN clients working properly. I have tried the official Messenger by Microsoft, aMSN, Proteus, Mercury and a few more. None of them work properly. I can send and receive messages most of the time on Mercury, but on the other ones I'm not even able to log in.
Another one: I can browse forums perfectly. But if I want to post something (like this), I receive the error "Safari can't load the page". So I have posted this from my PC.
Now first I thought it had to do with my internet connection. When I connected it to an ethernet cable it still didn't work. So I thought, maybe it has to do with SSL connections; GMail, Windows Live mail and Rapidshare all need an SSL connection. So I went searching for an SSL test on the internet, found one and... passed it successfully in Safari and Firefox. Which is actually obvious because I am actually able to log in to GMail, I'm just not able to do anything from that point.
I don't have any of the problems I described here on my Windows desktop PC.
So I've been thinking, I can do a whole fresh installation of Mac OS X now (currently running 10.5.7) or wait for Snow Leopard to come out and do one then. Or maybe you guys know a solution for this problem? I searched for hours and can't find a damn thing about this.
Have you emptied the cashes?
Yep, didn't work. I have found out that it's my wireless home network. I've tried using my mobile phone as a modem with it's internet connection, and everything above like sending e-mails and logging in worked. My brother is the "administrator" of this network, checked everything in the router and my network settings and said it should all work fine...
