• I almost just set my house on fire with front panel USB ports

Basically I fixed my previous problem, turns out that the PC needs to be jumped using a screwdriver on the power pins. After starting it I plugged in 2 devices, one of which almost set on fire instantly, both were recognised as malfunctioning by windows. I checked the motherboard and it turned out that only half the front panel USB connector was in. Would this have caused it or is something else making this happen?
Is this hard to follow for anyone else?
from what i can gather, apparently he didn't fully connect the front panel USB connectors in and thinks that why it borked everything. I'm not sure but I wouldn't think a device being plugged in would have anything to do with the front panel usb connector, unless the device was plugged into the usb connector, but I'm not really sure.
Any pictures of the aftermath?
Oh, so this is what I was missing. He's referring to the last thread he made.
I suggest you just unplug everything there is and replug it by the manual checking all pins before anything else gets burned up. You'll be lucky if the motherboard survived intact.
I don't see how it could possibly catch fire
It might be your power supply feeling the slow release of pc component death and taking it out some poor usb devices. Would also explain why your computer occasionally doesn't turn on. I'd pick up another power supply before re-testing your components, using a dying/subpar repeatedly is a recipe for disaster.

What I meant was when I plugged a device in to the front panel connector, it decided to start smoking (and it broke it), and I think it was because the connectors wern't in properly (only half the connector was connected to the motherboard) but I'm not sure if that was the reason, so I'm just wanting confirmation that it's fine to use them. The back USBs are completely fine and nothing connected to those has set on fire. Plug your things in the rear USB port, if they start smoking then you can no longer use the USB on them. You probably accidentally got the 5V on D+ or D-.
