So, I was looking for old hardware to restore and play around with an old Pentium 4 HT computer. As of now the rig is now running a Geforce 7300 GT AGP...YES AGP 8X. The Pentium 4 is a 478 pinned processor on a Intel D865GMR. 1.5GB RAM Samsung PC3200 DDR 400 RAM sticks, 1x 1024 MB and 1x 512 MB. Now I am experimenting with other AGP cards I found this local thrift stores on hardware stuff that means computers and what not. First I bought this ASUS Geforce 6600 GT AGP 8X 128 bit from them for $4.00 I brought it home didn't work it turns out that one of the transistors were scratched out. Like somehow when they took out the card from the PC somebody didn't know how to disassemble it properly. Anyway down to business. I replaced it with a Radeon 9550 XT I have no experience with ATI cards before so I wanted to try it out. So I plugged it in. And this came out of it: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/hVxYg6Y.jpg[/img_thumb] Here's the details: 1. After close observation of the video card it turns out these encircled parts where damaged but not that fully damaged that soldered parts were damaged. 2. When I booted the video card up to the desktop, it said Radeon 9600. 3. Fan speed is off the charts like it rotates faster than usual. What caused this? Help.
Judging by those kinds of artifacts, the VRAM is bad.
