Where's my mod support Blue? That's all I ever wanted.
Hahaahahaha! *digging into* hahaa oh god.
Anyways, this does seem a tad behind, I don't really consider this game on the radar anymore.
Oh god the controls would suck ass
Would this even work with console controls?
I don't see why not, Minecraft does
eh terraria didn't have enough content tonlast
it's very much under the radar and i can't see it being an amazing profit on consoles
Makes great co-op on the PC, so I can see it working that way on consoles.
What I don't understand is that this is a very cursor driven game, so how would that work well with a console controller.
It would work nicely with a WiiMote though.
The controls for the PC were pretty clunky, I can't imagine it being even slightly fun for the console- so much shit to organize and you got a gamepad instead of a mouse and keyboard to work with.

Uh unlike minecraft terraria uses a cursor for mining and attacking.

They weren't clunky at all.

I would assume they're going to redesign the UI for consoles...

Minecraft has even less content and it's still one of the most widely played XBLA games right now.
I don't really care much about console shit till the new generation comes out. Everything hopping on for current consoles in 2013 seems like a lost cause.
Unless they do...
analog cursor
Isn't it kinda obvious they'll redesign it a bit to fit controllers more? Minecraft wouldn't work well at all if they didn't redesign the menus to be easily used for controllers, and for Terraria it will be no different.
I don't really care about it going to console as long as the PC players get the content too.
Or at least fucking mod support. If they don't want to give us the content give us the tools to add it in ourselves.

The difference between the two is twofold. One: Minecraft supports mods. Something like Tekkit gives Minecraft WAY more longevity than it normally would have. Secondly: Terraria's focus is more on the journey. Minecraft's is more on the destination. In Terraria you play it because you enjoy the act of getting the cool gear with a friend or three, then summoning one of the boss monsters to brutalize with said gear. In Minecraft the mining is dull, boring and tedious, something you do only to gather materials for that giant 80 foot golden cock-and-balls you plan on placing just outside spawn. Sure, you can build an 80 foot golden cock-and-balls in Terraria as well, but that's not what you're there for. The sheer variety of mobs in Terraria is proof enough of this, it has more mobs active at night than Minecraft has overall...and then there's shit like blood moons and goblin invasions...the myriad of boss and semi-boss mobs...yeah.
They're wildly different games, even if they have similar elements.
Seems a bit late
PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace aren't too keen on free game updates, and since development of Terraria is finished, it makes sense for them to publish the game on the consoles.

But the Xbox edition of Minecraft doesn't have mods, which is purely what I'm referring to. I already know of the unfortunate reasons as to why Terraria doesn't have the same kind of longevity compared to the PC versions. But yeah, Minecraft on XBLA will still probably outlast Terraria on XBLA for the other reason.

Even without mods Minecraft will have more longevity. Get bored of a giant 80 foot golden cock-and-balls? Build a matching pair of tits around it! Bored of that? Build the Enterprise shooting at the tip!
Minecraft's focus gives it a longevity that Terraria doesn't have, even without mods. So it will do much better on consoles.

No shit, but unlike Minecraft, Terraria is extremely dependent on the use of a mouse. Minecraft is much easier to translate to a controller.

Seems like the opposite for me. Terraria can only swing in a circle and I don't see hows thats harder to play with. Just like any 2d twinstick shooters.
Minecraft which is fully 3D looks harder to play with twinstick.

Yeah but you have to aim a lot more precisely to build and dig in Terraria than in Minecraft.
I imagine they'd have it where you sort of hold your stick in the direction you want to mine in.
Left stick for movement, right stick for cursor? Would work pretty easily, as long as you could adjust the cursor speed.
If I can get some friends to try it on console, and if the online is stable, I may buy it.

Precision with a cursor on an analog controller is extremely hard afaik
End game bosses would be nigh impossible to beat with a gamepad.
