Hi guys,
I'm looking into getting a new CPU and graphics card because I'm falling behind and new games are getting laggy, I'm looking for something that would run GTA4 on full with no lag.
Thanks.
I'm in the UK incase you post any websites.
Specs, Budget?
I currently have an AMD Dual Core 2.6ghz and Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX+ 512mb, Budget is your choice really whatever you think would be best.
Its hard to do anything without a budget
For low budget you get i5/460/5770
for bigger budget you get i7/480/5870
GTA4 on full with no lag doesnt exist without getting really big rig. Its a badly optimised console port
Ok what about £300-400

300-400 for cpu + gpu?
Also what about motherboard? New cpu needs new motherboard. Is this included in budget?
EDIT:
for £400 this is the best your gunna get. Website is scan.co.uk (probably the best site for UK parts)

Is there a way I can get the full specs without going through hundreds of menus.

Your going to have to upgrade your mobo
This build should run gta 4 fine.
But you have to remember you will probably need better PSU, and ddr3 ram would help.
Also your case might not be big enough.
You might want to consider a whole new build.

Ok, Just curious what's the difference in the DDR's, PSU Is 400 watt and case dimensions are 440 x 200 x 430 mm, Hope that helps.

you need a minimum of a 550w PSU with at least 38 amps on the 12v rail for a gtx 470.
you also need new ram
Might aswell build a new pc or whatevers cheaper.
install gentoo
This isn't /g/

i5s aren't low budget. Lol.
AMD Propus quad-cores are low budget. Core i5 is lower-high end.
this Athlon II x2 and 8800GTS maxes out every game I play, I honestly don't see what reason someone would have to buy the really high end stuff for just gaming. Pretty much just shitty console ports is all that doesn't run well on this system.
Due to the fact that gta limits users on what settings they use based upon video memory, it's difficult to actually run on full settings unless you had something with 2gb VRAM. But, that does t mean you won't be able to max out what it let's you and play fine, I hit the settings wall, and it runs fine for me.

It has nothing to do with whether or not you can see the fps difference, you can sort of feel it in the controls and responsiveness

I consider the dual-core versions of the i5 series to be borderline lower-high end, but just under it.
An athlon CPU can outperform an i5 650 and I'd hardly call it high end

why do you need 50 frames per second? 25 FPS is my lower limit, but no game I have installed ever drops below even 30. I can't feel the difference any lower than 35.
