What point is there to widescreen? When people see widescreen, they think that it extends the edges while I think all it's doing is chopping the top off. It also doesn't help that widescreen still distorts your vision at high FOVs. When you get triple monitors and play a game on it, the view is extremely distorted on the left or right monitor. Why can't games give the extra vision that widescreen has? They could just add letter boxing, they could just allow people to change the FOV so normal players can have if not even more vision then widescreen players. Why is widescreen so popular?
Use the right Aspect Ratios.
I don't really understand why you made this thread.
Because normally you don't care to see a crapload of ceiling and floor.
fairly obvious troll
I love my widescreen.

I do wonder sometimes why movies insist on having huge black bars even on widescreen monitors. It's such a useless move and completely negates any advantages of having a widescreen monitor. But I can see what the OP means. It's more like chopping off the top and bottom than extending the sides. I don't know why it's so popular but meh.
this is the main reasoning behind Widescreen (and why paper is also 16:9 among 80% of other shit that you need to look at. Your eyes basically orgasm when you see things shaped after this.) and why it's not bullshit. Use the right resolution and disable stretching and you're good to go with a better FOV.
