I recently purchased a Sapphire 5870 Vapor-x graphics card. It's good, apart from the fact that my computer crashes 5 minutes after starting a source game. Other games such as Bioshock 2 do crash, but not for about an hour. I've tried re-installing all sorts of drivers and hotfixes, but none have worked. What the fuck is going on?
This is it:

Which power supply do you have?
1:Overheating?
Download HW monitor and post your Temps while it has been Under load for 10 minutes (if you can run the game for that long))
2:Does sound keep playing?
3:Your PSU might be low on power.
Post your Psu type
4:Update your drivers.

I used to have a 9800GX2 and that ran perfectly fine.
Either:
Overheating
Or
Artifacting, make sure your fans are spinning, and tech the temp of your card during use.

1) Temps are and always have been good (40-60 degrees)
2) Yes, it loops
3) Done that
4) Read the thread.

Use drive sweeper to delite the old drivers properly and reinstal the new drivers.

Did that.
If evrery game you play crashes like this I would say RMA.
Also:
This is your PSU 12V output:
+12v 1 (± 5%) 1A - 18A
+12v 2 (± 5%) 1A - 18A
+12v 3 (± 5%) 1A - 18A
+12v 4 (± 5%) 1A - 18A
18A max is not really high by todays standards (22A to 25A)
A card like that might need a better PSU then that one.

Found this:
Radeon HD 5870
The card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit at minimum if you use it in a high-end system. That power supply needs to have (in total accumulated) at least 40 Amps available on the +12 volt rails.
Radeon HD 5870 CrossfireX (2-way)
A second card requires you to add another 188 Watts. You need a 700+ Watt power supply unit if you use it in a high-end system. That power supply needs to have (in total accumulated) at least 55~60 Amps available on the +12 volt rails.
Your point?
The amperage on your PSU is 18A max while the card requires 22A
I thought it required 40 altogether. Mine has 72.
Hey man that happened to me when I first got my ATI card and tried to use CCC and dual monitors. I think it is a glitch in the driver software.
Did you fix it? How?
