So today i bought a skateboard, I had one years ago but due to my memory I'm practically new. So far I can well, ride it, turn, do a terrible ollie.. Any tips on getting better?
Tip :
Don't think you can do anything on any tony hawk game.
I learned the hard way :saddowns:
Don't set a foot high rail on a foot high curb and expect to grind it flawlessly. Your feet shoot out and you land on your back, on the rail. It's not fun.
Watch some tutorials, learn to ollie first, then do a moving ollie. Practice on carpet it really works and helps for beginners.
Never wear a helmet or knee pads and act like a douche bag.

And study techniques.
Sell it and buy a scooter.
Real men ride scooters.

and dont lean forward to much when going down a halfpipe.
Elbow/knee pads and a helmet. You're more likely to push yourself during the learning process if you feel safer. If you don't wear protection no worries, you'll just man up over the pain quicker.
Search on youtube.
There are some good tutorials and tips there.
I skate too, but the only tricks i can is ollie and pivot.
Extra questions:
Should I loosen my truck bearings to turn better, It currently takes a while to turn

Also what should I do with my wheels, when I spin them with my hand they only go for like 3 seconds

Buy DC clothes
Learn to do moving manuals before anything else

All my friends skate and they say DC is poser tier

But then again apparently I already dress like a skater with fitteds, black skinnies, converse
Try not to break physics when skating.
Shit doesn't end well.

i only leave on the bottom one :colbert:
I've skated a lot, but never came to being really good. I still have some tips if you'd like.
Shoes need to fit so your toes make good contact with the board, instead of creasing which makes it difficult to maintain toe balance. Stay on your toes when you ollie.
Unless your wheels are utter shit, the reason why they only roll for three seconds is because of the bearings. If you buy new ones, buy reds for $20-30. If you don't want to buy new ones, clean yours out, tons of tutorials on Youtube for this.
It might be easier to learn tricks with tight trucks, but it's a bad habit. Loose trucks last longer and perform better.
And the comment about leaning forward on halfpipes, the opposite is true. You have to lean forward a lot, unless you want the board to fly right under you. Keep low towards the board if that makes any sense lol.
Did you need to know anything specifically?
