The game which i bought is going for free .... :/
I kind of doubt Valve has sold over "480 billion" copies.
I kind of doubt Valve has sold over "480 billion" copies.
Well the worlds population is 6.93 billion. Heh.
Goodbye Valve.
probably a typo and meant millions.
Meh, I purchased the Orange Box for Ep2 and Portal anyways
Are they going to finance it with the hat purchases?
Team Fortress 2 should go free to play in its current state, but I reckon those that have already purchased or are going to purchase should be offered an "original" Team Fortress 2 (current maps and stuff, but no class unlocks, no hats etc). You know, because Team Fortress 2 isn't exactly a good example of a class-based shooter at the moment.
probably a typo and meant millions.
Or it's probably exaggerated for sake of comedy and totally flew over your head. Half a billion people do not, nor probably ever will, play TF2.
If they gave out vanilla as Free to Play I'd make a new steam account.
And i bet it will be Pay-To-Win like Combat arms, and other shitty Free To Play games
Well the worlds population is 6.93 billion. Heh.
Some people buy it more than once, due to VAC bans, etc. It's possible they've sold that many, but not likely.
And i bet it will be Pay-To-Win like Combat arms, and other shitty Free To Play games
No cuz they get money from hats. No need to sell weapons
And i bet it will be Pay-To-Win like Combat arms, and other shitty Free To Play games
I'd like to bet that it will stay the same, theres still the mann co shop to make money from.
people who bought the game should get all the weapons for free.
What if micropayment is the future of financing video games? No longer do you have to pay $50 for a full game, you get it for free but with a catch. The stuff in game cost you real money and they are sold at a very cheap price, below $10 to get players hook into buying virtual items. Map packs are free but weapons and in game cosmetics cost you a dollar.
people who bought the game should get all the weapons for free.
that takes the fun of finding weapons out of the game
Releasing a game, letting people pay money for it and then making it free to play should be illegal.
Releasing a game, letting people pay money for it and then making it free to play should be illegal.
No doubt they'd be aware of that problem.
i doubt it. With all the updates they're doing to it almost weekly now, why would it go free? Unless they expect the 'in-game store' to produce more revenue than the initail purchase.
I kind of doubt Valve has sold over "480 billion" copies.
Yeah, I was kinda wondering where this website got the source of that. That's a HUGE number.... I'm pretty sure World of Warcraft didn't sell that much lol. But if Valve made TF2 free to play I think that would be fuckin' awesome! Then everyone I know can play with me and gain hats! :) And the whole idea of relaunching this game, sounds exactly what Valve would do. Cause of course, they know actually how to run a gaming business. I totally support Team Fortress 2 being free-to-play. But, don't touch anything else, not even the item shop prices, I don't want them prices going up!!! YOU HEAR ME VALVE!! YOU LISTEN TO ME!! Edit 1: Maybe, with this whole birds thing, I think we will get a medic update, and maybe, JUST MAYBE!!!.... TF2 will be F2P, birds being able to fly, being free, Team Fortress 2 being free, being able to FFFLLLYYY!!! :) I doubt thats right, but it goes well with it lol.
This is a valve test app, I thought they were all free as they are for internal use only...
Like hell valve would do this, If they ever did a shitstorm would erupt from those poor souls that ended up buying hats
And i bet it will be Pay-To-Win like Combat arms, and other shitty Free To Play games
If it went F2P it would stay the same, Valve already stated that you can make profit on just micro transactions which means that TF2's micro transactions are giving Valve loads of money. For all we know they probably already made more from micro transactions than all the purchases of the Orange Box.
Releasing a game, letting people pay money for it and then making it free to play should be illegal.
I think it is but not if they give compensation. Besides this is just a rumor, it's more likely that DotA 2 will be the F2P game.
I don't get why you guys have a problem with it? Everyone pretty much owns the game there's not much point of Steam constantly making free and dirt cheap weekends, the game should be sold for a mere $0.00usd.. Okay sure, I get that a lot of previous VAC banned users may re-enter the game causing a more increase in hackers but seriously, about all servers now days are patrolled by admins, games I enter have always 1 or 2 admins sitting around, so hacking won't be much of a big issue.. VAC is perfect for this sort of shit, I'm sure Valve will work on something to prevent this and who knows what it might be.. So yes, make it F2P, we can expand this community and Valve can make more money from micro transactions, call it greedy but hey, how else are you gonna put food on the table?
Well most old games are now free. GTA2 for example. Everyone rushed and paid a lot for it, but now it's free. It's the same story here. TF2 is not that old, but it's getting there.
probably a typo and meant millions.
More like a deliberate hyperbole.
I said DotA 2 is more likely to be the F2P game because it has to go against games like LoL which is F2P too.
