Browsing, refined Sometimes a browser should just get out of your way. The improvements to Opera's look and feel are many, but the result is a leaner browsing experience, so you have more room on screen for content. The new Opera menu button replaces the traditional menu bar, so you have a single-point to access all of Opera's groundbreaking features. Catching lightning in a bottle ... er, browser Opera 10.50 is the fastest browser we have ever produced. Under the hood, we introduced a new JavaScript engine, Carakan, and a new graphics library, Vega. What that means to you: no more waiting around for a site to load. Private browsing What you do on the Web is up to you, no one else. Make sure it stays that way by using private browsing to remove specific sites from your browsing history. Unlike other browsers, Opera 10.50 allows you to browse privately in a tab or in an entirely separate window. Platform integration On Windows 7/Vista, we let Opera enjoy Aero Glass, as well as supporting Aero Peek and Jump Lists. Now, you can easily access your Speed Dials, tabs and more from the Taskbar. The old favorites Opera has pioneered or introduced many of the features commonplace in Web browsers today, such as tabs and Speed Dial. But, a few just cannot be found anywhere else: Opera Turbo - Whenever your bandwidth slows to a crawl, just turn on Opera Turbo, and let your worries eat your dust. Opera Turbo compresses Web pages on our powerful servers. Because you transfer less data, Web content gets to you faster. Opera Unite - Share content immediately, without uploading files or posting to a social network. Opera Unite combines the flexibility of a Web application with the capability of a Web server, easily accessible from your browser. Opera Link - Take your data with you. Synchronize your Speed Dial, notes, search-engine preferences and more; then, just log into any other Opera Web browser or even Opera Mini, the world's most popular mobile Web browser. What we say "Opera 10.50 is the fastest browser in almost all speed tests," said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera. "But, more important than any speed test is the real-world speed during use. We designed Opera 10.50 to be easy to use, while making our unique features stand out, so you can get more out of the Web." Rewriting the Web with HTML5 and CSS3 Opera 10.50 includes improved standards support for HTML5 and CSS3, giving Web designers the tools they need to make eye-catching Web applications that work on completely open technologies. Read more for complete information on standards support in Opera 10.50.
The wait is over. Our favorite browser is finally taking the lead in speed. Performance isn't everything, as it features a sleek transparent interface. A new fast, intuitive search URL field. Private browsing. New Carakan engine. I hope 'shortly' is tomorrow at the latest. The Opera team did a great job on this from what I've experienced so far. Seem to have been working their asses off.
I'm just gonna throw in a few images and other stuff. My benchmark: Opera features that you get BY DEFAULT, no addons needed:
Speed Dial - Have up to 25 sites pinned to a new tab Snappy UI - Not only is the rendering quick, but the interface is very snappy and responsive, unlike FF Tabbed browsing with MDI Built in mouse gestures Built in mail client Built in RSS reader Built in IRC client Built in notes Built in download manager Opera Link - Synchronizes all your bookmarks, Speed Dial, notes and more to your My Opera account Visual tabs Session manager - Save your tabs and windows whenever you like so you can load your sessions again Trash Can - for opening up closed tabs. Unlike FF, the Trash Can is easier to get to and lists every tab you've closed in that session Skins Interface can be easily customized however you want Opera has been a leader in browser security for many years Excellent standards support Widgets Opera Unite - Allows you to use your computer essentially as a web server for easy-to-use apps Opera Turbo - Compresses web pages for slow connections Voice control Built in easy-to-use content blocker Built in popup blocker Wand for filling in personal info in a single click. Also saves passwords Built in User Javascript support (Greasemonkey) Custom search engines. Add your own search engines and access them simply by using a letter in the address field and then typing your search.

This is an external application that does the same as Adblock Pro. All ya need to know. Read on for more info. Why should Firefox have automatic ad blocking and Opera not? Well now you can get it for Opera as well! (Now with more sexy artwork thanks to Tu154M, go check out the awesome radio station he is hosting for: Shoutpunch.) <- Ad for awesome shit, my blocker won't block it, because it's awesome! Now onto the juice. This is a PRE-ALPHA. It's not done and nowhere near so. Therefore I ask you to send any bugs you find to loopernor@gmail.com or post it in this thread. You need .net framework for it to run, so go get it. (Google is your friend) NOW WHERE MA DOWNLOAD LINK. Right here: http://fpv-community.de/files/oblock/ (it's for the updater, which also serves as installer and auto-updater when there is new versions) Filesizes: Updater: 712kB (729 088 bytes) OBlock: 1,43MB (1 502 208 bytes) Shit it might fuck up: Itself. Any Opera installation that supports urfilters and uses "%appdata%\opera\opera\" (Meaning Final Opera 10.50 as well) There ya go. No Mac or *nix versions available, probably won't be ever.
Wow this is better than I expected. If it continues to impress me it could replace chrome as my primary browser.
Possible to selectively block javascript without giving it a chance to load? Aka what Noscript for Firefox does. (Note: ALL javascript, not just ads)
Are all there features (bar the obvious Windows ones) coming to OS X too?
Yup, they're the same across the board. As far as I know. I can attest for linux/windows.
I'm really impressed by Opera's ad blocking capabilities. Fanboy's urlfilter list is as good as ABP as far as I can see.

For those who don't like the 1 pixel gap above the tabs when the window is maximized: Change this value to 0 then save and restart: opera:config#UserPrefs|ChromeIntegrationDragAreaMaximized Works for some skins. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for the default skin. Here's a few good ones that work with it: http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/info/?id=8904 http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/info/?id=9281 http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/info/?id=9101 [editline]11:44PM[/editline] Okay, I modified the default skin and removed that top gap. I used to have Mironix theme on 10.10, and on 10.50 it just looks bad.
This thread reminded me how long it's been since I've updated. I'm still using 9.6
Some things that bug me about this version is the horrible lag when dragging an image around and not showing its file name anymore on rightclick. Also, sometimes i can't directly right click into the search bar without left clicking first to remove that "Search with..." text. And, how do i get rid of this annoying url suggestion bar which is just plain messy and gives me horrible suggestions.
I've changed placement of Opera's main button, co I have more space for tabs.
I've changed placement of Opera's main button, co I have more space for tabs.
This is one of the great things about Opera. Everyone can customize the UI too look exactly how they want to.
YES Ive been waiting to update from my 9.xx :D
So my question is: Why the fuck so many people still are using Firefox? I can understand when people use Chrome, but Firefox, Safari or IE? Dunno.
YES I can finally see gifs and apngs without random speed changes Opera is official awesome.
YES I can finally see gifs and apngs without random speed changes Opera is official awesome.
Not according to your fully working APNG avatar.
Does anyone know if there is an option anywhere to change the color used to highlight the URL field? The highlight is almost the exact same color as the address bar, and it's hard to see how much of the URL I have highlighted. I know I could use a different theme, but I'm using the only one I can find that I like. Any suggestions?
It's nice, but I'd like the default theme to be darker and there's no option for "black". Gotta wait for a custom theme then.
So my question is: Why the fuck so many people still are using Firefox? I can understand when people use Chrome, but Firefox, Safari or IE? Dunno.
For Firefox, addons. There's no reason for IE other than compatibility with broken websites and old web apps (and even then, people usually run IE6 for that).
Not according to your fully working APNG avatar.
My avatar is invalidated by the spelling error in my post :saddowns:
I downloaded opera 10.5 expecting it to be the best browser ever but it seems to load pages rather slow(not my internet, Chrome is still running fast.)
I tried to love Opera. I loved the interface, but that's as far as I got. So I installed the Strata40 theme for Firefox instead.
I downloaded opera 10.5 expecting it to be the best browser ever but it seems to load pages rather slow(not my internet, Chrome is still running fast.)
Try fiddling with the page redraw time.
Try fiddling with the page redraw time.
I have mine set to redraw instantly.
I have mine set to redraw instantly.
So do I.
What is that redrawing thing actually?
What is that redrawing thing actually?
I'm wondering this aswell.
