Keep losing wifi connection, router problem?

a few weeks ago our wifi stopped working for an unknown reason, i didn't know how to fix it but it fixed itself after a few hours
now, this happens every day now and i found a way to fix it. reset the router for 30 seconds, unplug router and modem, plug in the modem, wait, and plug in the router again
then it works.. but this is rly annoying!

so im wondering what can be the problem? i guess it is the router, hardware issue or something with the settings?

i have a Linksys WRT54G router and im using the Tomato firmware.

how i know its the router and not the modem?

if it's only wireless and not ethernet then it's the router

if it happens again ill try to get internet access with my laptop plugged in the router/modem
if that works, ill get new router then
