so I got this game during the sale and I have to say it's awesome
shame the multiplayer is so dead.
I've played a few matches and it's really good, I dont' understand how there can be only about 150 active players in the evening, less than 50 late night.
why is this? does anyone here know of a private group of players that I can join or something?
max payne 3 blows. the gunplay is fun, sure, but everything else blows.
Yeah. While Max Payne 3 was enjoyable for a while. I still see it as one of the weaker links in rockstar's chain.
Wasn't the multiplayer supposed to be MLG PRO or something?
Look at how that went.
I thought the multiplayer was sort of shit. It's one of those games where everyone has a glowing name over there heads at all times no matter how far away they are. That has no purpose in a shooter. Also, third person view means people seeing around corner. Also, there was a good amount of hacking at launch, I don't know if it's been fixed. I can't even play it lately because I can't get the game to launch anymore. MP3 PC version was always a bit fucked in general, shame to say.

Rockstar put everyone who had been confirmed as a cheater into their own separate matchmaking system so they could only be matched up against other people who hacked.
It's probably because of the poor balance in multiplayer. Dual PT92s could pretty much fuck anybody up. Also, the snipers were annoying as fuck in MP. I mean, despite all that, the MP was still pretty fun in my opinion.
it definetly has some problems and balancing issues, but I still think it's fun and has lots of game modes and customization. I don't expect it to be played by tons of people, but damn it's almost completely dead.
It's probably with people disliking the move to Brazil, I mean I got it at launch and there was only around 5000 people with most of them being in modes with target lock.

"I got here by using aimbot, no recoil, bunnyhop, hacking my name to be unmutable, and ESP/wallhacks. WBU?"
"I used Cheat Engine."
The multiplayer in singleplayer games never lasts very long
Nobody really expects the multiplayer in a very singleplayer/story oriented game (and it has been a story-oriented series for so long) to be any good, and it's also very competitive and very difficult to rank up and get into if you just start so a lot of people give up at the ridiculous learning curve. It also has a bad reputation regarding a large frequency of cheaters, which isn't nearly as prominent now but some may disagree.
Max Payne 3 in general isn't very popular as a playerbase either. My long-standing theory is that Max Payne fans didn't buy it because it was too different from the first two games, and Rockstar fans didn't buy it because it wasn't open world.

which is a shame, because it has the best gunplay i've ever seen in a game in my entire life
so much detail, so much weight, so great.
