I am confused, wat is this game supposed to be now? an MMO? a singleplayer adventure game? It seems like the game is drifting away from it's original gameplay goal...
Never drifted away from the main goal as far as I can see.
Space MMO.
This game is going to come out in a million years with how much they've added on.
Chris said that the game is a BDSSG.
Best Damn Space Sim Game.

The point of all the money though is it determines how much will be in the game at launch, on its original launch date of Q42014. If it gets delayed a month or 2, I'm okay with that, but the end of 2014 is when everyone is going to be on the edge of their seats for it.
And regardless, we get squadron42 and basic multiplayer combat before then anyway.
If this game turns out to be crap, I think it will singlehandedly kill crowdfunding of videogames

This game turns out to be crap, I think I will singlehandedly kill myself.
my money is still on the primary components either needing to hold off on features (to be included later, if at all), or it will simply need to be delayed into 2015+

Most of the stuff they are adding on is really coming after the 23 million mark, everything before that was already planned but they simply didn't have the funds to realize it
Trust in Chris Roberts
i hope there will be in game dollar bills with "in chris roberts we trust"

Then you're missing the point of crowdfunding.
You aren't buying a product.

The way I remember it, the game has always been intended to have three main gameplay modes - a singleplayer campaign, a massive, continuous multiplayer server(MMO) and an option for people to make their own multiplayer servers. I don't think it's drifted away from that plan.
Good news for me. I was waiting for the dogfighting alpha to release to see first impressions on the combat before throwing money at it but the alpha slots were rapidly running out after Hornetageddon.

It'll only get worse after the freelancer variants come out.
Fuck I just realized, all the ships they have shown currently are going to have variants. all of them.

I'm poor but luckily the Aurora appeals to me as a generalist ship.

I recommend the extra 10 for the LN model. It strikes me as the most versatile of the variants right now, since no other variant can pack 4 C1s.

And if you need LTI, ask the SC megathread, they'll set you up.

Not "just" a Space MMO. a Space sim that has both singleplayer and multiplayer, as Gordy explains here:

If you buy a digital copy of the game, it's prepurchasing the product.

Its not done, there is no product, only a concept, a foundation, and a prayer.
