I have a Windows 7 machine downstairs connected to a USB HP Photosmart 7150 printer downstairs and an XP machine upstairs connected via a wireless router. Both PCs can browse each other's files, I can browse text files on the XP PC from the 7 PC and I can even watch Return of the Jedi ,which is located on the 7 PC, on the XP PC. Up until recently I was able to print on the HP printer from the XP PC, but it decided to act like a retard, and in my attempts to fix it I reinstalled the 7 machine's printer drivers from the XP site. Now, when I attempt to connect to the printer from the XP machine, I get an error message saying 'The server for the 'HP photosmart 7150 series' does not have the correct print driver installed. To search for the proper print driver click OK...' I click OK, it leads me to this weird little dialogue box where I'm supposed to look for an .inf file (The fuck is this shit, I have a fucking .exe file, I don't know where this inf file is located). I downloaded the XP drivers from the HP website, ran the setup, it asks me to connect the printer to the PC, I CAN'T, IT'S ON THE OTHER PC. I right click on the printer, click connect when it gets to this stage, doesn't work, what the hell am I supposed to do? Where is this .inf file? How do I get this to work? I'm fucking at a loss, I've googled like fucking crazy, and there are no answers.
OH COME ON. I just did EXACTLY THE SAME THING I WAS DOING (Right clicked on printer, clicked connect, clicked yes to the 2 dialogue boxes and IT FUCKING WORKED. I mean, I should be pleased, but this is one of my main gripes with XP is that sometimes you get problems that make NO GOD DAMN SENSE and you somehow fix them without knowing WHAT THE HELL YOU JUST DID.
So, never mind, it worked, 5 minutes of thread wriring wasted, lock this please.
