Who bets TB won't make a video on matter of principle?
You know I kind of have to agree with Slowbeef and Diabetus, what right makes LPers, streamers or the like feel they have a right to make money off of it? They didn't make the game, and doing commentary or LP vaguely counts as "Content" because without the video game you'd have nothing. It's one thing to just DCMA every video of a game (SEGA), but I think if a dev doesn't want you to make money off their game, that's fine because you can't seriously tell me you're creating your own content, when it always revolves around a game. It's a touchy subject no doubt, but I feel like a lot of streamers and youtubers have become very entitled thinking that as long as they slap a commentary over a game, that its 100% their own content.

When they are given a press copy and a note alongside it asking to put in at least 40mins to let the game grow on them they should be allowed to make their revenue like any other reviewer, whether it be through a visual or written medium (SE's previous policy practically forced them to only make written reviews for FFXIV). When they are told they can't make a youtube review on it (like being able to show the viewer just how awesome your game is) that practically means they would be doing it for no profit and raises the question of if it's really worth putting out a review at all. That would've severely hurt sales as reviews are essential for most potential customers.

LP is centered around the people. People watch Pewdiepie because of Pewdiepie and his "hilarious" rape jokes and screaming. When they aren't watching LP for the people's jokes and reactions they're watching LP's to see HOW THEY PLAY the game. Without the people LP's is nothing. Nobody actually watches LP to watch someone play the game unless they just want to know what the game is like. They are absolutely creating content because you control the characters, you interact with the environment and you make the commentary that people enjoy. Nobody watches it for the game alone, saying that just proves how little you know about LP's.

I'd agree with you if we were comparing movie and video game critics, but you're not; you're comparing critics and let's players. Critics are there to provide criticism and opinion of a piece, to tell you whether they think it is good or bad. Their commentary has value. There are a wide spectrum of LPers, but a surprisingly popular type of them have commentary that roughly amounts to "This is a barrel. I have made a running joke about barrels. Thus, I will scream the fact that it's a barrel into the microphone."

The point is, without the game LPer's have nothing to to build on, if your point was right, then people que up LP videos, then alt-tab to just listen to commentary. Also your logic is flawed "You control the character" Correct, of a game that was produced by a company. Commentary is content, but when you're using a game that was an already made product, you can't say a LP is 100% User created content, because the whole idea of LP relies on a product that was created by a developer.
They have every right to make money off it, its like a bike company saying oh hey, you use our bike in your movie, you're not allowed to make money off it
Except unlike bikes, there is a clause in every game's EULA since forever, that allows the company to dictate how their game is used in media, and if they so want, they can make it so streamers and content creators can't make a dime. Not saying they can't, just saying that it is pretty sad that these people feel entitled, when game companies are allowing them to, Allowing, it is not their given right.

The mean so little that until a couple of years ago Blizzard had a clause claiming that buying their games gave them ownership of your soul. Even the companies don't take them seriously.
I watch some LPs just to see the reaction someone I like to watch's reaction
The swift reversal makes me think that they didn't realise how big of an issue it was.
