I'm looking for a new CPU cooler and I found this http://www.frys.com/product/5827603 I currently have a 3rd party CPU cooler but I can't find a brand name and it was given to me buy a friend who doesn't remember who made it. the main reason I'm looking at this cooler is because it's universal and I can reuse it when I upgrade from my Q6600 which is currently OC'd to 3.2ghz. I'm just wondering what you guys' opinions on this CPU cooler and see if it's worth the price, if it is I can pick up later today when Fry's opens.
For that money you better get a Mugen 2.
I was planning on picking this up later today and purchasing online isn't much of an option right now.
pretty much any half decent cooler is universal if you have to use frys, http://www.frys.com/product/5971334?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG if you can use newegg, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003&cm_re=xigmatek_s1283-_-35-233-003-_-Product and you can get a bracket for 1556/1336 cpus
I was looking at the Hyper 212, is it LGA775 compatible? I'm looking for something I can use now and still use after an upgrade. [editline]03:21AM[/editline] nevermind, I checked on Google and it is. I'll go with for the Hyper 212, unless anyone else can recommend something better for under $40usd.

since when were we married? [editline]03:36AM[/editline] plus I'm upgrading soonish so why not just get a new cooler I can get now and still use later?

You said you were going to be done with Makol but now i hear you gave him you cpu cooler. Not cool man. EDIT:
since when were we married? don't you guys have a build log to update or something?
You married him fusionpoo. thats it we're done.
Its not what you think ok, we just like defragging each others hard drives
Its not what you think ok, we just like defragging each others hard drives
Is that why you said it would be better for me to get a Solid state drive. EDIT:
don't you guys have a build log to update or something?
Now us anymore. Now its just me updating a build log by myself. EDIT: Any btw I need to go by some more stuff just come with me and fusionpoo later and we'll take a look at some heat sinks.
Any btw I need to go by some more stuff just come with me and fusionpoo later and we'll take a look at some heat sinks.
alight then. I'll just hold off until the next time I'm in town and we can figure it out. [editline]11:18AM[/editline] well, here are my idle (with an OC of 3.2ghz) temps with my current CPU cooler. are these temps fine? or should I invest in a new cooler? [editline]11:43AM[/editline] or would it just be better to get a new CPU cooler when I do upgrade? [editline]11:50AM[/editline] eh, I decided to wait on getting a new CPU cooler. I think I'm fine for right now. I'll make a new thread for when I do upgrade asking about other questions. thanks guys.
With my H50, i have my i5-750 OC to 3.6 and the idles are about 29C and 54C under 100% load
get a 212+ not a 212 [editline]08:20PM[/editline] i wish i had friends in real life to talk to about hardware that are my age. the only person that's even remotely knowledgeable is my ex-brother in law dale who doesn't really know a whole lot. :( [editline]08:24PM[/editline] and he's like 30
With my H50, i have my i5-750 OC to 3.6 and the idles are about 29C and 54C under 100% load
I was looking at that H50 for an i5 once I have the funds for an upgrade. probably best to let this thread die and I'll make a new one asking some new questions once I can actually think about an upgrade. but I have to ask again, these good idle temp for a Q6600 at 3.2ghz? this is my current CPU cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835150082&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3640869&SID=skim629X1198
yes but 2 friends are better than 0 [editline]08:51PM[/editline] I would say that's pretty average for a Q6600
that is true. [editline]05:53PM[/editline] ok, just one last question... is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus worth getting now and using later or would holding off for the H50 be a better investment?
pretty sure they perform the same. Do you want a cool looking system that's practically silent or something quite a bit cheaper but sort of noisy
the cooler I have now is pretty noisy so I'm use to it. plus, I usually wear headphone when gaming so I can't hear it.
Budget? there are many choices, the Hyper 212+ is arguably the best for the money, if you can stretch, Mugen 2 or Xigmatek HDT-S1283 Black Knight, TRUE (modded of course), Venomous X and so forth...
