I've got a little bit I've been thinking of adding/changing about my computer. I wanted your input on the stuff I have listed. Current setup: (motherboards max CPU wattage is 95w) AMD Athlon II X4 645 3.1GHz 8GB DDR3 1333MHz EVGA GTX 460 1GB (256bit edition) 1TB Hitachi Deskstar 7200RPM 3Gbps Upgrades: AMD Phenom II X6 1045t 2.7GHz EVGA GTX 660 OCZ Vertex 4 128GB (New case possibly? What would you reccomend?) I've got a bit of leeway, what else would you add? No peripherals/cooling items please. Thanks!
1. What's your maximum budget? 2. OCZ isn't known for reliability with their SSDs. I'd recommend swapping it out for a Crucial M4 or a Samsung 830. 3. What's your current case?
1. We're working with ehhh less than $500. 2. Note taken 3. Shitty HP case which came with the stock PC I built on. I'll figure out form factor and whatnot tomorrow. I do believe it is just atx though. [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] I should add some of these are going to be bought by myself, and some will be gifts from relatives. I have about $250 for myself right now. What I can't accomplish myself will be asked for.
I would get a new MOBO and i5-3570K cpu. Its better, and recent rumor has it that AMD is looking for a buyer for the company.
That sounds quite nice, but I want to squeeze a nice new GPU in there too. Any ideas?
DO NOT GET AN OCZ SSD Holly fuck the whole company infrastructure is a joke. I just had my OCZ SSD die on me after like a year of use, extremely pissed me off, returned for warranty though. Get an Intel, they seem to be highly recommended, plus its just what I bought. I would probably make the Intel upgrade more important than anything else, maybe graphics second, you tend not to worry about an SSD till your hard drive is a real bottleneck in the system, but you have pretty low end stuff.
What about the Samsung 830 for a SSD? On another note, my graphics and processor are both balanced and maxing out. Theoretically a new processor wont improve games if I still have the bottleneck video card right? Currently I get about 30-45 fps on BF3 at high/ultra settings, 1920x1080, 2xmsaa, and medium post aa. I want to max this game out @ 40+ fps Btw, I kinda want a SSD because of recording I do. I dont like the drop in FPS, and I want to record straight to the ssd to avoid that.
