• Windows computers get really slow download speeds

For the past few years we've been on this house wifi network that uses an Airport Extreme base station. It's pretty cool, except for one thing: the DSL service we're on supposedly gives us at least 1000 kbps and we're not getting that. The one mac we have usually gets between 500 and 1000, so that's not the issue. The issue is the PCs--every Windows computer I've ever used on this network rarely if ever gets above 300 kbps. I don't think I've ever gotten a torrent speed of over 160 or so. Sometimes (like right now) it's even worse: This gives me all sorts of problems. I can't stream Youtube videos at anything above 320p, stuff takes forever to download, I get kicked off online servers for having a high ping, and my ratios on private trackers are really low because I always get sorted to the bottom of the seeders list. Again, this has been the case with any Windows machine I've used on this network, new or old, using Windows XP and Windows 7, custom-built and factory-built. I have no idea where to start with this. Any ideas? [editline]3rd May 2011[/editline] I should also mention, the slow speeds happen whether the computer is on the wifi network or plugged directly into the Airport router. If the PCs get plugged directly into the DSL modem, they can sometimes get as high as 500, but not consistently.
