They don't have to be killed. You could always just make a 3-brick hole and wait out the night if you really want to.
Do it, Turkey. Do it.
"Although the game can be seen as encouraging creativity in children by letting them build houses, farmlands and bridges, mobs [hostile creatures] must be killed in order to protect these structures. In short, the game is based on violence."
Is this another case of "we've never actually played the game, but we've seen videos and that is close enough"? Not counting things added with mods, mobs always go directly after you and never attack structures directly. What, claiming that its property protection instead of self defense makes their case better? I suppose they'll go after Cookie Clicker next for "glamorizing" obesity and diabetes.
But there is no blood or gore in Minecraft. Maybe if they ban the game because of Pigs and the ability to eat pork, that I may understand since Turkey is a Muslim country.
The leap of thought from "you have to defend your home" to "this game is based on violence" is baffling to me considering how little combat is fleshed out compared to exploration and building, especially considering Sandbox Mode is a thing. You're not even forced to commit violence, you can always dig a hole in the ground or wall yourself in.
My guess is they're just trying to remove western culture so citizens are more likely to obey the government and Minecraft is something the kids are into

I think minecraft is the least violent game I've ever played
As a result, the ministry feels Minecraft could lead children to confuse the game world and reality, possibly even going as far as torturing animals without knowing what kind of pain they’re causing the creature.
Ha.
