I watched an entire LP of this game from start to finish the other game out of curiosity, and god damn it may have humorous points but when it wants to horrify you it does just that.
Postal 1 was disturbing when I first played it.
The Suffering, I was probably about 10 when I first played it, the first scene where[sp]the guard is stabbed through the head by a slayer[/sp] absolutely terrified me. For some reason I kept going back and playing it. Great game though, Love it.
Mother 3 This was too much for me
Freaked me out as a kid.
ORION: Dino Horde
Majora's mask was pretty disturbing as a kid
I think this was one of my first rawer games I played as a kid, I remember being so obsessed with it but also really anxious and almost scared to play it sometimes.
Wolfenstien: The New Order had some fucked up scenes that disturbed me.
This game. It was way too much for my young brains imagination to handle. I completely lost myself in it.
Gone Home and Dear Esther because of how bad of a game they were.
first time I played Silent Hill 2
P.T. is really fucking spooky
Binary Domain Couldn't play past the first mission. Has something to do with one of my personal fears. My biggest at that.
The mosquitoes in the first Sly Cooper. Their taunting animation if they kill you is to squirt all your blood they drank into the air.
Now that I think about it Cry of Fear had some solid disturbing moments and atmosphere. A silly example of a game that disturbed me as a kid was Commander Keen and the legendary Dopefish. One of my first games and it introduced me to enemies you had to avoid. I was losing my shit every time it appeared.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes with [sp]Paz getting raped by Skull Face and then by Chico (who was 16 at the time) and then having a bomb placed inside of her stomach and another in her vagina[/sp]
I'm not entirely sure if it's in the game as it is shown here, and gore in video games doesn't really do anything for me - but I think this takes the cake (PDF)
Damn, I never thought about how complex it was.
To this day I still refuse to play the Manhunt games. Killing people in a brutal execution style is a no-go for me.
I found parts of this game so terrifying as a kid.
I finished Earthbound last week and the final fight with Giygas was pretty unnerving.
Both the Manhunt and first four Silent Hill games.
Dead Hand from OoT was and still is freaky af
This shit was fucked up. The whole thing was unsettling, and so fucking difficult. Gave me nightmares. I mean, look at that shit. LOOK AT THOSE EYES. And yet it was awesome in many ways, which made it even more disturbing.
The [sp]transorbital lobotomy[/sp] in Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea
Resident Evil on the gamecube. Early one, when you enter a room in the mansion and suddenly outta bumfuck nowhere there's zombie noises. And the dogs, damn.
Fuck this game. It's brilliant and horrifying. I got so scared when I played that I needed to pause the game just to stop my heart from racing so hard and fast.
The [sp]transorbital lobotomy[/sp] in Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea
And the optical surgery scene in Dead Space 2. My mother actually has a condition where she has to do that exact type of surgery every couple of years. A massive needle inserted right into your iris. I can't imagine that. I hope I don't have that condition later on.
Oh also if anyone has played the original first spyro game they'll know what I'm talking about when I say these enemies: I'm 19 years fucking old and these guys still scare me.
Luigi's mansion scared the fuck out of me as a kid. I actually tried using a vacuum one night when I was scared
