Going to get peaches, doing the build in a sec
get a nine hundred two, instead of 300, superior quality, design, cooling and structure for only a small bit extra. (depending on where you look). Though, if you don't intend to be putting things in the case which require the superior cooling, a 300 will do.

Wait what
You only need 4GB of DDR2-800 and AMD is better for budget builds
Thanks CombineGuru, can it be in the same specs as the build above, if not better.
And pl0xinat0r, I'm not really that much of a hardcore gamer, so I don't see the need for the 900.
[QUOTE=pl0xinat0r;17864242]get a nine hundred two, instead of 300, superior quality, design, cooling and structure for only a small bit extra.[/QUOTE]
it's over twice the price
hardly "small"

I tried not to be an intel fanboy, but I couldn't help it. :( And $800 really isn't budget is it?
[QUOTE=TheMadness;17864289]it's over twice the price

well, i suppose it depends where you look, but if you don't need it, then yeh, no point getting it, just a suggestion though. :3

You don't need to be a gamer to get a nice case. But yeah you don't need to upgrade the case.
Also Op when are you buying this.
and why are you getting 6GB of RAM, what are you using it for?
Around or after Christmas, I'm saving up my work money, I have about $200. Birthday's in a month, and I'm going to try to persuade my parents for an early Christmas present. So about 3 weeks to a month.
and i assume you have a 64bit os install disk to hand, because you can only use 4GB with 32 bit OS IIRC
Not sure why I want 6gb. :( I do use photoshop quite a bit though.
[editline]04:17PM[/editline]
You keep breakin' my automerge, haha. And yeah, I'm going to install Win7 x64 on it.

That's ok then, i suppose the 6GB would be good for photoshop, but just save up a bit more, and go the whole hog and get 8GB, might as well :D
Sweet, seems like a nicer build. I don't like the leds in the 300 Illusion though. I'll go with the regular one.
[editline]04:21PM[/editline]
8 gb seems like overkill, IMO.
The LEDs are the whole reason i am getting Antec twelve hundred, oh, well, and cooling, but LED's are awesome, you could always turn/cut them off
[editline]09:23PM[/editline]
Or just get the normal one :p
[editline]09:24PM[/editline]
Plus, getting the illusion saves on shipping, and you get money of a PSU, which would be wise.
[editline]09:25PM[/editline]
if you wan't to get that PSU, and not the perfectly good one CombineGuru posted.
[editline]09:25PM[/editline]
But yeh, normal one w/o lights is fine, i just like things that glow.
If there's a way to turn them off, I'll go for it. And the PSU in the combo deal is $70 more.

I just like how AMD has cheap $100 quad-core processors that perform great at 3.0ghz.

Open case, take pliers, cut wire, or just unplug them. And, i didn't really look in detail about the combo, so didn't realise it was a waste :3

the illusion you get extra fans in the front
what the flying fuck, illusion is the same price as normal 300 now? you're basically getting 2 extra fans for free
also from what I've seen from pictures the LEDs aren't too bright, might just be the photos though
Yeah, same price.
Dunno why, lol :350:

Yeh, lights annoy some people though, but as i've said, unplugging/cutting the wires is easy enough to do.

Is an i5 build really worth it though, i mean, for a bit (i suppose that depends on where you buy from too) more you can get an i7 build which'll run much, much better. but then again, that's pretty far out of OP's price range.
i5 is fine, no point getting an i7 as most games and proggies don't utilise the HT
[QUOTE=CombineGuru;17864969]i5 is fine, no point getting an i7 as most games and proggies don't utilise the HT[/QUOTE]
Hyper Threading (i assume that's what you mean by HT) is useless, mostly, it provides marginal increases to certain things, and then makes other things run slower, Intel's decision to define i5s and i7s purely by the inclusion of Hyper Threading was a bit stupid, i think the distinction between socket size would have been fine, and not made things so damned confusing.
[QUOTE=pl0xinat0r;17864975]But, then again, [b]that's a pretty low range i5[/b], yeh, just ignore my comments [/QUOTE]
Um, what?
That's the only i5.

Well even at a month you should wait if it is Christmas definitely wait these builds won't be the best you can get in a month.
