yes yes sure sure
Let's be honest, what do we expect them to say? Are we seriously thinking they're going to come right out and say "Yeah, we fucked up. We're cashing all our bets on pachinko machines, and we're never doing AAA again. Fuck you, and all our fans, and we're going bankrupt this year. Wubbalubbadubdub!"
No. Of course not. They're going to try to make everything seem fine. They've still got to answer to shareholders.
Once those games flop, though? I wouldn't be surprised if they do withdraw from AAA games.
They can, but they really need to stop doing this shit.

No they can't.
No they can't.
Explain.
Sure they did ruined a lot of their franchises, but a lot of their money comes from arcades and other places.

You're disgustingly optimistic if you think MGS could be continued and be remotely decent.

The only good option I can think of is MGR2 by Platinum.

He never said it could be decent
It could be a shitty cashgrab/p2w freemium game
[editline]28th September 2015[/editline]
Which is pretty much what I'm expecting from MGO

Yeah I agree, MGR was fantastic.

Well in the case of that then yeah sure of course it could be continued, it'd just be terrible.
Well, they'll have a hell of a job cut out for them if they wanna top MGSV, and even that showed signs of rush around Act 2, apparently. And that's not to mention that there was apparently meant to be an Act 3 that wrapped up all of the loose ends.
But all they need to do is ask Platinum to do another Metal Gear Rising. If it isn't rushed out or fucked with by short-dicked balding executives, surely another MGR wouldn't be as terrible as we might fear?
Actually, letting Platinum make MGR2 isn't all they need to do, but it's a starting point at least.
I hope Konami will stop making triple A games and just sell their IPs. But we are talking about Konami here.
Don't expect anything good out of them.
"Konami UK community manager"
I'll believe it when an actual executive says that they're continuing to make triple A games. Depending on the company, community managers can be pretty out of the loop when it comes to executive decisions.
They'll be able to churn out stuff with similar gameplay to MGSV, and honestly they won't have much trouble with the story considering that there's not much in the way of Kojima-feeling story content in V (due to the lack of story content overall.)
They won't be able to meet the expectations of MGS story without Kojima though.
tbh, im sure konami could pull off a decent stealth game, just not a good mgs game, but then again, neither did kojima with V so it wont be that bad
i want to see a notmgs using mgs5's mechanics and shit
including motherbase idk how they'd shoehorn that into a new ip but it'd be great
that new ghost recon game looks very mgs5-y just without the base building
Honestly, Kojima was trying to sort of create a new generation of devs at his studio that could take over when he eventually retired from the Metal Gear series.
Except he kept taking things back over because they weren't apparently very good at it or something, and not to mention Kojima Productions is now dead, so it doesn't even really matter in the first place anymore.
You're disgustingly optimistic if you think MGS could be continued and be remotely decent.
It can though, although Kojima's done a lot for the series his writing hasn't been up to snuff since before MGS4. MGSV's barebones story has its moments but it isn't anything to shout about and is downright bad at times. As for game design, it's because he was absurdly overambitious and couldn't handle a budget MGSV feels unfinished. Really it's not too bad a scenario: He can do something fresh without shitting on the MGS plot, MGS can continue and the plot's already down the shitter so it's no great loss. Will the series get the Silent Hill treatment and be sold down the river? It's likely, but there'll be plenty of passionate studios auditioning for the role so it depends on who gets the job.

And yeah I think the important thing to remember is that Kojima's actually wanted MGS to go on without him for years, the only difference now is that he's been fired.
Except no, mgs is dead and you know it konami.
Perhaps they missed the memo that like.. 90% of everything MGS related is written by Kojima.
I get that Konami sucks and all but let's not rule out a Kojima-less MGS so fast. Portable Ops was great for PSP, Ghost Babel was amazing and I'm surprised how much they put into a Game Boy game, MGR was a great spinoff, etc. If Konami just keeps some Kojima Productions people around the games it could still be fun. I'd start panicking if they outsource it to some unknown company.
at this point the only kojima related writing they would need to adhere to is the small gap between 5 and mg1 which isn't really that hard to do
They could just do a remake of MG1 and 2, it's all already written, they'd just have to extend it a bit, add more dialogue and obviously make cutscenes. It wouldn't be Kojima quality but it could still be okay, especially if they build it on top of MGSV engine and mechanics.
Hopefully they don't give the IP to some western team.

i mean they probably could do that if people were right in saying that video games are peanuts compared to the rest of their revenue stream
Say what you will, Portable Ops was decent for what it was, and that was mostly done without Kojima.
If future Metal Gear games are at least on that level of quality, I'm fine.

Portable Ops wasn't terrible, but it's a perfect example of good ideas / concepts not having a great execution (having to recruit every single soldier by bringing them to the back of the truck, for one thing), poor controls due to the limited setup of the system, and ultimately why non-Kojima writers can be problematic considering just how fanservice-y it tries to be about Null being Gray Fox despite the series' continuity, among other things.
The only good option I can think of is MGR2 by Platinum.
Maybe AC!D 3 or Ghost Babel 2. As long as it's in a different canon it wouldn't be too bad.
Honestly, i'd want to see how Platinum Games tackles the challenge of a Metal Gear game that isn't just a Revengeance sequel. They make kickass action games, but Vanquish was pretty much MGR if it was a third-person shooter rather than a hack-and-slash, and I can only imagine a Solid Snake or derivative that fully lives out the action movie cliches that really kicked the series off back in MGS1.

Actually PoOps had less fanservice thsn most of the Kojima games.
As fpr the poor design choices, the only inexcusable thing there is bringing soldiers back to the truck. If you emulate the game and play it with, say, a Dualshock 4, it's way more enjoyable.
portable ops had pretty weird lore inconsistencies and some shit designs
not to mention the controls, peace walker handled that so much better
Gray Fox and RAXA aside, Portable Ops was actually pretty good. Big Boss got some actual character development (seeing him turn into a leader), and the squad building/mission based mechanics clearly inspired PW and MGSV afterwards.
I think the controls were alright, considering how limiting the PSP is on that. Everyone praises PW but the controls sucked in that too on the PSP.

If Portable Ops got an HD version with dual analog support and the fulton added, it'd be great in terms of gameplay.
Also, I'm 100% convinced the only reason the fulton was thought of is because how tedious getting soldiers was in PO.
