How are valve frustrated exactly?
I think shacknews just wrote this in title to be more dramatic.
Valve are frustrated with the hardware scene...they said that in job ad on their site...
I think shacknews just wrote this in title to be more dramatic.
Yeah that seems to be all ShackNews does.
i dont understand why game news websites do articles like these "here have links to other articles we already wrote"
it's non-news
This is nearly on par as Fox News sensationalism.
How are valve frustrated exactly?
Aside from the aforementioned lack of real hardware innovations instead of gimmicks trying to turn consoles into Wiis with worse handling, Gabe was also really disappointed at how W8 is going to be much more closed off, following the mentality of app stores. That's why they've been focusing on Linux recently.
Valve must be thinking *sigh* Do I have to do everything myself?! :|

Just a recap for people that don't keep up with these news on a daily basis.
if you got 10 hours out of a game you say you hated, you still probably got your money's worth.
Horseshit. When did $59 for 10 hours of game time become the norm?
I remember when games lasted a lot longer than 10 hours. A lot longer.
Horseshit. When did $59 for 10 hours of game time become the norm?
Yeah you're right. 4 hour singleplayer games are the norm.
$60 for ~30 days of gameplay sounds better

1 year of gameplay
Lol you can beat Pokemon in much under a year, I remember beating Blue at least once a month and the gameplay is also really repetitive, RPG's really don't fall under the category of certain other games, but honestly about 12-14 hours of Single Player for $60 isn't bad at all when you consider how much other forms of entertainment cost.
I dropped 30 dollars on ArmA and next thing I knew I have like 300 hours on it
"I've been playing some old games" lists Bioshock and Mass Effect
"I've been playing some old games" lists Bioshock and Mass Effect
And Assassins Creed.

you can finish the story in a week if you play at least 2 hours a day, also this is an RPG not an FPS
As long as I hit the amount I paid in hours, I am golden. I have hit that in just about every MMO I bought aside from The Old Republic, and I have bought a lot. RIFT, APB, Tera, Guild Wars 2, Everquest, Everquest 2, so on so forth.
How are valve frustrated exactly?
They aren't letting off enough steam.
[sp]so sorry[/sp]
I don't judge a game's value by how many hours I put into it. I judge it by how much I enjoyed the time I did spend playing. If I buy a $60 game and it goes on for 100+ hours but I'm not having fun, that doesn't make it worth the purchase. If I spend the same amount on a 10 hour game that I really enjoyed and will linger in my memory, that was worth it.

I don't really like ShackNews either, but:
"We're frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we're jumping in. Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There's a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked."

I don't really like ShackNews either, but:
But the idea is they're not saying they're literally red with rage, it was just a statement saying, yeah computer peripheral hardware is static.
This is nearly on par as Fox News sensationalism.
Fox isn't particularly sensationalist compared to, say, CNN. They're just extremely biased.
guys, i clicked because i was worried of a frustrated valve too V:saddowns:V
It does sound more sensationalist but they are using it in a kind of separate context.
Just a recap for people that don't keep up with these news on a daily basis.
no its for pageviews/traffic which gives them revenue, you dont see actual news organizations do this because they dont need to to make money

I use the ratio of hours enjoyed to dollars paid (or hours total for free games) to determine the value of my games, although it's kinda biased towards any cheap games that are at least decent.
Yeah that seems to be all ShackNews does.
bring back rps
How are valve frustrated exactly?
They are frustrated because Gaming as a whole isn't really innovating anymore, and it's not innovating anymore because computer hardware hasn't been innovating. Hence why they're jumping headlong into the hardware industry, judging from news articles.
Horseshit. When did $59 for 10 hours of game time become the norm?
There's a few exceptions for (mostly) SP games thankfully.
Dark souls got me 60ish hours, Deus ex HR got me 45, Skyrim, as much as I didn't really like it, got me 60ish
Shame there's not more like that, I miss GOOD SP games, with fantastic stories (except skyrim) that lasted me a long time. I'd much rather unique SP games than shitty MP generic shooters with crappy war plot SP's tacked on.

Yeah but they're saying a 10-hour game you didn't enjoy is worth its price, and that's retarded.
Whether we liked the game or not, there are people that still do, and if you got 10 hours out of a game you say you hated, you still probably got your money's worth.
I could understand if they said something like 50 hours because if I played it for that long it means I somewhat enjoyed it, otherwise I would have stopped after a few hours. But I could force myself to spend 10 hours on a meh game hoping it'll gets better as the story progresses and it would be a waste of money if it doesn't.
What they really gotta do is move away from the
Weapons all over the place, defeat evil people (Russia or Eastern) and safe the world.
I'm gotta bored to death with Call of Duty, Battlefield 3 and a fuck load of other games because they are so dull as fuck, at least i enjoyed the single player of Bad Company 2 and BF3 but thats pretty much the only thing
