• Acer 5742G laptop - turning off Turbo Boost

Hey guys, I've recently bought a new(ish) laptop and it's all been going fine with it until it suddenly shut down in-game this evening. I figured it might be a temperature issue and yep, running Prime95 all cores reach 100c within a few minutes. Aparently this laptop has a feature called Turbo Boost (herp derp) which basically overclocks the CPU under heavy load, and the cooling can't quite cope with it. Nicely designed, Acer. So my question is wether any of you got any experience with this and know if it can be turned off. There's no sign of it in BIOS. Thanks in advance!
You need to go into the BIOS to disable turbo boost. Depending on the type of BIOS you have (New UFI interactive BIOS or the old keyboard scroll BIOS. I know in the UFI BIOS that it is on the first setup in "EZ" mode and you just have to select the default mode. Not to sure about the other one though.
Nope, there's no option to turn it off in BIOS. Looks like I'm shit out of luck.
