I have an old swedish kids game from my childhood that I desperately want to run. I tried installing it manually but I need registry entries for it to launch.
The installer uses InstallShield version 6.22
I am not sure if the installer is 16-bit or 32-bit and I am not sure how to check that. I did try following a guide I found on the ReactOS forums
though, and it doesn't seem to be 16-bit. Atleast it doesn't behave like explained in that post.
What I have tried:
1. nGlide windows 95/98 mode in windows 10. Nothing happened, also tried running it on a laptop running real 32-bit windows 7
2. Dev branch and stable wine in ubuntu desktop 16. Nothing happened.
3. Using ReactOS, I clicked Run As, nothing happened, I also tried double clicking the setup it and I got the same result, I also tried using CMD to run the setup, once again, nothing.
Any help and or pointers in the right direction is very much appreciated, also I do have a .LMD file that seems to contain what the installer uses to know what registry keys to create, but it is 5000 lines and is not worth manually inputting.
Edit: I found out that the Setup.exe uses SafeDisc 2.80.011 by running uniextract on the exe. And after searching for some more.
Apparently SafeDisc is known to cause problems and is not supported at all in windows 10. I do have a real copy of the game with the CD, but that doesn't help.
Pretty much your only shot is installing windows 95/98 in a virtual machine.
Securom/SafeDisc hasn't been supported by Microsoft since Windows 7.
