Settlers 2 For DOS Box Help

I have downloaded The Settlers 2 and I need help installing it. I extract the zipped folder and I click the install application but it says it is not a valid Win32 application.

You have to run the install application in DOS box?

this i how installed, it requires basic skill to follow this guide:

NOTE: i use a USB to run the DOS games, i found that much easier, E:\DOOM as a path instead of C:\windows\users\user\documents\games\doom

you should have downloaded a .zip file, i put it on desktop for ease, tehn right click the .ZIP file, your pc will have some method of unpacking a .zip file, program's like 7zip or winrar work fine

once you have unpacked it, you should have several icons on your desktop, e.g. Doom has about 4, put those files onto your USB

look for a setup.exe or similar, Doom had a ICDEI.exe or something for set up and game play

i usually rename them, like WOLFENSTEIN3D.exe, renamed to WOLF.exe

now you have your components in place

DOSBOX: first step is to install DOSBox. Launch its setup program and install with default options.

alright, install DOSbox to your HDD, often C:\ ( the program will usually try to save itself to C:\programfiles(x86)\dosbox1.4 for e.g.

so install it like any other program on your PC

it should be a pretty straight forward install

NOTE: you have to install the Dos games as well as Dos Box,install DOSbox to your HDD, but save the Dosgames to your USB

now with that bit out of the way,

run DOSbox, to run a game you have to locate it through this window

e.g.

my Doom is on my USB in E:\

so write this and modify it to your situation, like if your USB is F or D drive, swap the E for a F and such

MOUNT E E:\

E:\

cd E:\doom

doom.exe

that's what i write

another might be

MOUNT F F:\

F:\

cd F:\games\dos\doom

doom.exe

Just as a last resort, if you can't seem to get it to work, maybe try buying it from GOG?

It's compatable with XP/Vista. And I'm assuming Windows 7 should also work.
