• Samsung television audio help

Not sure if this is the right section but I need some assistance with TV audio. Currently I have a Samsung LN37A550P3FXZA which is an older model that supported RCA. Using an RCA to 3.5m cable I can use my Sony MHC-EC909IP shelf stereo as the external audio. I plan on getting a new TV next month and I've chosen the Samsung UN40ES6100 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+40%22+Class+(40%22+Diag.)+-+LED+-+1080p+-+120Hz+-+Smart+-+HDTV/4837552.p?id=1218540192699&skuId=4837552) and the problem is that there is no RCA support on this TV. There is an optical port, but my stereo does not support fiber optic. I tried getting an adapter that would make one end of the optic cable 3.5m but it didn't work. I then tried using a male to male 3.5m from the stereo to the "audio" port on my current TV but there is no sound. However on the current TV it only shows it for being a PC feature and on the new TV it looks like it has a dedicated audio out and a pc feature. My question is if I were to use a male to male 3.5m from the stereo to the "audio out" port on the new TV would it work as external audio? Can't you use the headphone port or something?
Yep this is a big problem, which has no fix. Besides getting an expensive digital-->Analog converter or using the headphone port. (The headphone port is usually optimized for headphones though). Another option is to loop everything trough your amp, but this requires you to have a separate decoder and not use the one in your tv.
