I'm looking to build a Computer for Music Production. Any tips? I use FL and usually work with VST channels and record my own tracks. Any tips on hardware? Right now I'm working with this turd.
Budget? Other requirements? Any other programs you want to run? Any peripherals you need?
Kind of a low budget, I have a graphics card I can use, I'm mainly looking for a decent soundcard (that agrees with Asio) and some good processing power. My current PC is so ghetto-rigged. I had to pull a Power Supply out of a mid 90's cream colored PC. I feel like I could charge a Car Battery Via USB with this fuckin' thing.
Low budget is too vague. Kind of low budget is even worse, especially when you throw in "good processing power." Those are all very much matters of opinion and relative. Give me some numbers to work with.
Also you will want an external sound card. Thats what all the big boys use anyway. Do you need jackplug/XLR or midi inputs?
Well, as for the audio card, I'm looking for something that won't give me bullshit surface noise (My onboard piece of shit does.) and can work with Asio4all. (I have to deal with Microsoft Wavetable Synth fucking everything up.) I don't know much about processor power, I just know how to pull shit apart and put it back together outside of my software knowledge. I just know that I'm gonna need something a bit better than my current setup. I'm sure I'm good on ram (3GB) but would definitely go for more. As for Midi and XLR, I'm planning on going through a USB powered recording interface (I love the Mackie Blackjack) along with a USB Midi Keyboard. I LOVE USB.
The Blackjack is your soundcard then, you dont need a seperate one.
