• VIA HD Audio Deck won't install (correctly) on Win 8.1

Ever since I installed Win 8.1 my Line In (blue audio jack if Line In is something else) has been making lots of static. I figured that if I installed my audio drivers this would go away as I have always had my drivers installed with this problem not occuring, but after I install 8.1 this happens. The problem is I can't find a working build for 8.1 If I try installing it from AsusSetup.exe it installs but it doesn't seem to work when I try launching the Audio Driver program, and if I use Setup.exe it says "No Any HD Audio device is found!" My specs are: [img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19296530/Things/Images%20of%20other%20stuff/pcspecs.png[/img] The reason I'm posting this here because a month or two ago I posted this in Tech Support with not a single reply [editline]19th April 2014[/editline] I'm gonna record my Line In so you guys can hear what the static is like (I'm in Halo 3's main menu): [media]http://soundcloud.com/el-brochacho/line-in-static[/media]
I had this on my old Asus motherboard, the audio deck isn't supported on anything higher than Windows 7.
apparently it's supported on Win 8, but not 8.1 so there's nothing I can do? I really don't want to go back to Win 7 (after having already done that before I just can't be bothered)
If you dared to replace 7 the greatest OS with the worst piece of shit that is called 8 You deserve it.
ok can we not turn this into a 7 > 8.1 or whatever argument I just want to fix my problem I don't want to bother with the arguing oh and I know it's not the monitor because plugging in my headphones directly work absolutely fine
fuck it i'm going back to win 7 cause as great as win 8.1 is i want my fuckin audio working
[QUOTE=spectator1;44579026]If you dared to replace 7 the greatest OS with the worst piece of shit that is called 8 You deserve it.[/QUOTE] windows 8 is ok i recently switched to 8.1 from 7, and its almost the same, but with few good features(i have nothing to complain about) also i had sound problems, i resolved them by taking the cd that came with the motherboard, and installed the drivers anyways, why facepunch doesn't think i'm using windows 8?
ok so you've got to be kidding i've checked the asus page numerous times for win 8.1 drivers but never found them AFTER installing win 7 i check again and there's goddamn win 8.1 drivers right there which were never there before. it's too late to install 8.1 back now i suppose [editline]19th April 2014[/editline] ok it's still persisting (this normally doesn't happen) and playing music from my phone/ipad results in high frequency noises being practically mute and the sound being abnormally quiet unless i spin the cable in a particular way, happens between 2 cables aswell. also still a bit static-y [editline]19th April 2014[/editline] are you kidding me its the fucking cable i just reformatted my system to a different os and wasted a 2 hours of my time [editline]19th April 2014[/editline] there's still static with this new cable but a tonne less (still noticeable with headphones) I should also point out it wasn't happening about 2 weeks ago fuckin i think i need to buy a new audio cable
