• New RAM issues - Not registering as being there.

Hello. Today a friend gave me her spare 2GB (Gb?) stick of RAM, after she got 2x2GB recently (Micro ATX mobo so only 2 RAM slots (dimms?)) Anyway, just 5 minutes ago I tried my hand at installing it. Clicked it in, seemed all good, booted up and I still only have 2GB as registered. I have a 32-bit OS. However I should still be able to recognise up to 3.5 due to a 512MB GPU. Now this next part I fear may have something to do with the problem. My other 2x1GB sticks are Corsair. This 2GB stick is Strontium. Could the differences in manufacturer really cause an issue? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Could the differences in manufacturer really cause an issue?
Yes. Mixing and matching with different brands and models of RAM can end up not always working.
Bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Well thanks for the speedy response :)
Sometimes, but not always, try just booting with the new stick and see if you can
NP. When mixing and matching with different brands, however, make sure that the sticks are as close as possible to eachother. Clocks, timings, etc.
@Bladerunner Do you mean to say, remove the 2 Corsair sticks and try and boot with just the Strontium one? @Aurora Well CPUZ has recognised the stick there. It's PC6400 stuff, not *quite* exact timings but close.
Yes, booting just with the strontium one

Trying mixing around the order of the sticks though, that might help out.
