• 3D Vision for PC - advice needed

So uh... recently I was thinking about getting myself 3D capable equipment for PC gaming. Shit is, I don't have any experience with 3D hardware... only been watching 3D stuff in cinema and tested some TVs in some local stores. I already have a powerful PC system and a 3D vision capable AMD/ATi graphics card (HD6990) Apparently all I need to get is: -some 3D capable TV or a 3D capable and HD3D supported monitor (with shutter glasses of course) -HDMI 1.4 cable -3D conversion software ...and I should be good to go. Although I'm concerned about bugs, issues, incompatibility problems that may appear. As a display I'd want to get a 32" 3D TV (Samsung brand maybe), because of the 200hz vs 120hz on a 3D monitor. Am I forgetting something? Any thoughts, advice or experiences you'd like to share are always welcome. :) Edit: some info source: http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-hd3d/Pages/how-to.aspx
TV's rarely make good monitors, get a 120Hz screen.
I used to have a 40" Samsung TV as my display, it was awesome, but a tad large for desktop usage, I must admit.
A TV will look like shit as a monitor, the pixels will be too large and look fugly.
I used to have a 40" Samsung TV as my display, it was awesome, but a tad large for desktop usage, I must admit.
Also the 200Hz may only be the output with video smoothing and the like, the input may not be 120Hz.
TV's can make great monitors if you get one with 4:4:4 Chroma subsampling, 1080p and especially if you can get an IPS one. Although yes obviously everything would be bigger and they're more expensive than a 24" 120hz monitor.
Get a computer monitor instead, that runs 120 hz.
Are there any 120Hz monitors beyond 1080p? I haven't been able to find one at all.
Are there any 120Hz monitors beyond 1080p? Dual-link DVI and HDMI will only support 120Hz up to 1080p and 2560x1600 at 60Hz. And there you go, you learnt something today and so did I.
Shit, I just found out, I can't use just any 200hz 3D TV for AMD's HD3D. Read it on AMD's website. Supported are only some highend class TV sets that firstly are 40" or more and secondly have 240hz (120 x 2?) instead of default 200hz. And of course they cost way more... Fuck!
Display Port has enough bandwidth, but I'd be surprised if we could have 2560x1600 120hz monitors by 2013, I simply think there isn't enough demand. But I'd certainly like to get one. I'm planning on moving to 30" next month.

Currently I'm stuck with my Apple 30" Cinema HD Display and it's awesome, though non-3D.
The Acer GD245HQbid is pretty good, and fairly cheap. 1920x1080 @ 120 hz.
