Damn it.Due to the Computer illiterate thing i thought you said "Should i get an STD" Anyway, i think you should. If you really need it and have a use for it.
Yes, using it as a boot drive is sexy I have an intel x25-v and it's great The corsair drive is better, you should get it if you can afford it

Just have windows install from disk onto the ssd, its an option during setup.
Just have windows install from disk onto the ssd, its an option during setup.
oh ok sounds good
There's even a tutorial for displaying the boot device (the ssd) as D:\ instead of C:\ so you don't have to change directories of shit you install.

Just open Disk Manager and change it. Unless there's more too it.
Link to this tutorial?
I googled boot drive d and found a Microsoft KB article on changing drive letters here.
Don't mean to hijack, but i've got a quick question that's related to my current situation. Just need a yes or no. SSD for Windows + two 1TB drives in RAID 0 for storage = good idea?
I would recommend not getting that SSD OP* get a OCZ Vertex 2E instead. *(basically Corsair released the drive with a modified SandForce beta firmware so that they got the special sauce version which only OCZ Vertex 2's are meant to have, and now they cant update the drives firmware or they will get the new firmware that all non-Vertex drives were meant to have in the first place which is slower in some situations.)

I have done a RAID 1 build like that though, and the combination of blazing fast speed for whatever essential programs you use, and data security for your files is awesome.
Get a Crucial C300 64GB or similarly sized Vertex 2E, depending on the ratio of read/write speed you're after. Personally I'm loving my C300 as a boot drive.

I have an OCZ SSD. Good boot drive. Make sure you follow some tuts on the OCZ forums on how to set up your SSD

You are running Windows 7 right?
You are running Windows 7 right?
This is for a new build, so yes i would have windows 7
Don't defrag. That's my only advice.
I have quite a few extra Patriot 64gb SSD's from my workplace. I'm going to sell them anyway so I could sell one to you at a discounted price.

What are you willing to sell them for TheNoiseExplosion?
I reinstalled Windows like 6 times on my Vertex 2, would that reduce the life much?
I reinstalled Windows like 6 times on my Vertex 2, would that reduce the life much?
Because of the way the Sandforce controller compresses the data and actually writes less to the SSD they are more resilient than other SSDs, and if you have TRIM running then there's no need to worry.
As far as I recall, Intel are the only ones who don't suck balls at this game.
