Well, I have decided that I'm going to buy a ThinkPad.
However, I'm not sure which one. I've been told to buy one from the T series, and if not T then W. T410, preferably.
What do you think?
Andy.
The T410 is nice. But why are you getting a thinkpad? Lenovos have some serious issues. They're nicely designed and tough, but dependable they are not.
My school provides an IBM thinkpad. I hope the one I get won't be stuck with an Intel GMA.
OP, is this going to be just for school work or are you expecting to be doing a bit of gaming on it too?
It's for home use, I'm not going to do much gaming on it, mostly web development, etc...
@Richard Simmons:
Actually, dependable they are. And the Lenovo products are far different than the ThinkPads. Even though Lenovo bought ThinkPad, they continued to work just as IBM did.
My lenovo is terrible
I have nightmares of Lenovos.
I once had to deal with them at IT-support. That was horrible.

I've had a lenovo at every blue chip organisation I've ever worked for except one and I've never had an issue with any of them, they've survived everything imaginable from drinks spills, to huge drops, rough handling at airports, kids messing with them, everything.
They've been imaged hundreds of times (sometimes literally), used as servers, presented thousands of presentations and not once have they failed on me or any of my colleagues.
I've no idea where you get your information from.
There's kind of a difference between the regular Lenovo products, and the ThinkPads.

I was replying in regards to the ThinkPads, I can't vouch for any of the other products that Lenovo make like their ideapad range.

My bad, was supposed to quote codenamecueball's reply.
I wasn't talking to you.

Its a hit or miss with Lenovo most of the time. I worked in Lenovo/IBM environments, they're not the most dependable laptops. Backlights and systemfans blowing out fairly quickly. But they are a very tough laptop, and if you get one of the good ones, it'll be your best friend for several years.
My 3000 has been bashed and battered, dropped and even had milk spilt on it but guess what.
£30 of work and it will be fine.
I retract my earlier statement.
ThinkPad is ok, Lenovo is sucks
they are brother now but not from a same mother, so.... if you are not going to run games on it, you could try T410

OP is perma'd, so I don't think he'll be coming back to this thread.
