I was recently removing a virus from my computer and when I tried to uninstall combofix using the run menu, I typed in Combofix /Uninstall and Combofix started up for some reason.
So it started running and I, naturally, freaked out. I ended it in the task manager and restarted the computer.
Now a few icons are missing, steam acts as I have installed a new version of windows and won't start, and some personal settings are removed and Java has been removed.
Is any of this damage reversible and is there other damage that I haven't caught onto yet?
Do you have a system restore point before the damage? Also there's a slight chance of system restore restoring viruses, but scanners should have caught it.
If you're running 7 (and I think vista) open an admin cmd window and type sfc /scannow and it will look for damaged windows operating system files and replace them as necessary. Dunno about other files though.
Uh, since when does combofix actually install it self like that?

It doesn't.
I had Combofix from a previous nasty virus.
