• Is my GPU fried?
    2 replies, posted
Motherboard fried a few months a go. I got a new motherboard, on-board displays fine. Dedicated has absolutely no display, but I can hear windows running in the background. When card is plugged in, it does not show up anywhere on my Device Manager. Have tried updating bios, disabling on-board, changing display priorities, cleaning old drivers, nothing has seemed to work. Looking at the card, it looks fine; The fan's spinning and sound clean as a whistle. Is it dead?
If you have another computer near you or at a friend which you can put the GPU in then try see if it works there. If it doesn't it's most likely fried.
When a motherboard fries, there is no telling what it could take with it. As ABS said, only way to be sure is try it with a different graphics card or even a different slot on your motherboard.
