GPU fried, whats the latest card compat with my system.

My card fried and i was gonna get a 9800GT i was told that it wouldnt work though, so if someone can give me the latest card that i can handle thatd be great.
PSU is 300 watt so I'd look into getting an ATi 4670 as that PSU probably doesn't have a 6 pin needed for a graphics card like the 9800.
Plus it doesent have PCI 2.0 x 16

PCI-E 16x 2.0 is backwards compatible with other PCI-E x16's.
put it in a PCI-E 2.0 x8 slot if there is one.
That CPU is not gonna be good for a 4670 if you want good performance from it. I would look into buying a new CPU, PSU to accompany a new GPU.
