I own a great laptop, but playing certain games (like Neverwinter Nights 2 for instance) causes it to overheat and I fear for its longevity if I expose it to these temperatures as often as I would like to. Would buying one of those laptop cooling pads I've heard about be a good solution, and if so, which product would you suggest?
I tried a laptop cooling pad that raised the lappy off the table slightly and had 3 high-rpm fans.
It lowered the temperature by a max of 2*C.
Maybe it'll work better for you, but I doubt it.
If I recall correctly, those vary greatly in terms of effectiveness.
Also, does anyone know of a program that works on Vista 64 that measures your computer's internal temperatures? I can't find any.
realtemp (can show GPU temps, too)
or use HWmonitor
(both free)
