The ATi division will reap the benefits, considering my 7850 is what is is, if the consoles are indeed GCN 1.0 my 7850 will very much have a long lifetime! and surely will end nvidia's reign of paying off devs and OEM's for better performance. We'll see.
Damn am I reading that wrong or are they putting quite literally the shittiest octocore they could find into the consoles. "poverty-spec".
And I really, REALLY want Valve to have a long keynote/talk during a conference or some bigger event, livestreamed to the world, where they actually step up and are like "We're doing this, this, and this. Steambox is this. Source 2 is that. Our next game is the other thing, and here I am explaining it all in some level of detail" because the whole "waiting and grasping at straws and bits of info every once in a while" is really getting old.

If you read the article, he talked about how bad single thread performance they had even on launch with the last generation of consoles.
To be fair, the current console gen was the first widespread usage of multi core cpus in consoles.
I doubt anything here is true, given that these "news" sites will post a "factual" article based on an unreliable email - see the whole Xbox Surface fiasco the other day for an example.
