Hey, I jsut built my computer. At first I couldn't even get it to start, but now it lights up and none of the POST LEDs stay lit. Sometimes the BOOT_DEVICE_LED will stay on and others it will go out, just trying to get into BIOS. Did you use standoffs in the case before you screwed the motherboard down?
Did you use standoffs in the case before you screwed the motherboard down?
Yup, all but two, but they were "higher" and would've made the card crooked. At least that was the conclusion I came to. All of the holes have standoffs however. And since it gives the beep and none of the lights stay on (other than BOOT_DEVICE_LED) It should've passed POST, right? I'll try rebuilding it on a piece of cardboard when I get home.
Despite popular belief, the PC Speaker beep is not indicative of a successful POST, it just tells you the PC speaker is connected and working. If you look carefully at the two longer standoffs, they're likely the same length as the other ones, just they have a center ring designed to be inserted into the motherboard mount hole to keep is from moving back by being pushed by the rear I/O plate. These special standoffs are supposed to be placed at the far top and bottom mount holes opposite to the rear I/O plate to help keep the board in place. But if the boot process gets that far, then there's likely something wrong with the video card. Try re-seating the card and making sure the PCIe power connectors are attached properly.
I'll do that and mount the other standoffs to be sure, I hope nothing is busted..
-snip- Solved! To others who might come by here using google, install windows w/o your GFX plugged in. And check your cables again and again.
