• Need help finding DDR2 RAM
    8 replies, posted
So I have an okay pc for gaming, but the only thing letting me down is my ram. The problem I have here is that it's very hard to find DDR2 ram that isn't 500MHz. My motherboard supports a max of 1200MHz with 4 slots for ram. I currently have 2 x 1GB of 400MHz RAM. So what I'm asking here is help on finding ram / advice on whether to get 2 gigs to add on, or just replace them with 2 x 2GB. EDIT: I may go with http://www.memoryc.com/products/description/4GB_G_Skill_DDR2_PC2_9600_Ripjaw_Series-6_6_6-Dual_Channel_kit/index.html if there are no other alternatives, but has anybody used the site before and can confirm that it's legit?
Download speccy: http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy/ You'll want to place it in Dual Channel mode, so you'll either need 4x1GB or 2x2GB. This should do, if you don't want to spend too much on it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231207&cm_re=DDR2_4GB-_-20-231-207-_-Product
Newegg only has one listing for 1200MHz RAM, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231283 although there is a much broader selection of 1066 MHz RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007611%20600006112&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Order=RATING&PageSize=20 I would recommend the top one, as it's all around $100 when you go 4GB, but you don't want to mix 500 and 1200 MHz RAM.
Thanks for the answers! I forgot to state that I'm in the UK and cannot order from NewEgg though, and I can't find anywhere else that still has any in stock as most companies don't produce DDR2 anymore :saddowns:.
What the fuck is 500MHz DDR2 by the way?
Gonna repost this in the right section so it gets more views.
This is the right section.
This is the right section.
Oh, a friend told me I should've just put it in the hardware / software section.
Replace it with this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142403
