I believe the best benefits that would come from this would be the enhancements to problem solving skills, not necessarily the theory regarding coding.
Choosing to do Software in senior school was an awesome choice for me I'd say, not because I want to be a programmer later in life but because it is fun. Really works your brain as well, to get past problems and do so as efficiently as possible. Doesn't matter that we use VB6 at all no matter what people say of it, still great fun and intellectually stimulating.
To honest, when I was only a year or two older than these kids, I was learning the basis of coding through wiremod.
I started coding just after primary school, this is a great idea.
As long as they teach kids how to make cool shit and not java databases or some balls.
In the year 2060,The coders become the poor due to the high amount of workers and the janitors become the top 1% owning all corporations and human being on earth and mars

I genuinely wonder about the state of software roles as programming becomes easier and it becomes more widely taught. At the moment them and other lower IT roles make money off ignorance of people.

Just like a car mechanic makes money off of people who don't know how to car; and a doctor makes money off of people because they don't know how to health.

Neither of those are taught from primary school age

We have health classes, don't we? Programming isn't as simple as they will be taught. There is a vast amount of complexity. Trust me, it won't become what you think.

Good luck when you have to actually write your code, kids!

When I was their age, I was learning how to use basic Lua.
Through ROBLOX.

To be honest, writing code seems to be easier than using Scratch to do shit. I hate the stupid way you have to "program" everything with the stupid GUI Scratch has. I've only ever used it about four years ago for a Multimedia subject and I hated it.

Scratch is a great way to learn how coding works. It's not about understanding how to write it, it's understanding what things mean and what they do.
