So are updates on TF2 still going strong or are they starting to slow down? Feels like the moved focus to CS:GO and DotA 2
I thought TF2 was not going to get anymore ridiculous after the bumper car update. Sadly, it seems I was right.
This article headline is misleading, there's still a Halloween event, it's just that the reskinned maps are coming from community members, not Valve. That means we won't get new bosses or drastically different new mechanics, but it's still a new event.

What a fucking joke, I used to look forward to Halloween on TF2 the most out of all holiday events in games. Now it's just community items and "dude look more contracts and stuff we can charge you for".

There's maybe two other updates with community cosmetic items. It is slowing down indeed. Honestly, I think after the second Heavy update and the final comic comes out (roughly 2.5 years from now I'd say, optimistically speaking) they're going to call it quits in regards to any more content. There'll still be bugfixes but not much more.
Community submitted bugfixes and balance changes to come in 2017.
You joke about this but I would've legitimately liked this back when I played TF2. It took them years to fix the Loch n Load's reload animation.
Eh maybe it's for the good they don't add more dumb stuff.
when is that comic gonna be finished It's been over a year since the last one ._.
Well, it's probably tough when you've done a lot of the stuff in previous years. TF2 is past its prime anyway, they probably have less people working on it.

It's just community bugfixes alongside community content and the occasional half-assed update.
TF2 is almost 10 years old, there's no way it could keep going on forever.
This is the funny thing, people who love TF2 are trying to justify this.
Last years community driven Halloween update was the best in years so I'm pretty optimistic for this years as well.
Maybe it's because Valve has been working on VR, steam controllers, and the SteamBox so long they forgot how to make video games?

I don't know when you started playing TF2 but I started in 2008 just before the pyro update. I think I payed about £25 for the Orange Box, It was one of the first games I purchased for my pc. Fast forward 8 years and the game has received a huge amount of content for a game that was feature complete at launch. I remember constantly thinking they were done with updating the game but they kept going. I didn't always agree with their additions (Especially when they went hat crazy). But I can safely say I got my monies worth ten times over. What do you really expect from a 9 year old game?
This is the funny thing, people who love TF2 are trying to justify this.
Having no new boss sucks, but getting multiple reskinned maps with creative use of previous Halloween mechanics is cool. I would be fine with this if it meant that we would get more non-halloween content. What really bugs me about all this is that they say they're doing this to "improve comp mode', which is fucking bullshit. After years of development and a closed beta, and four months post-launch, comp mode' STILL doesn't have placement matches. You have to start at the lowest rank and climb up. And since everybody else, including players better than you have to start at the lowest rank as well, you'll never have an accurate rank. I have zero confidence in Valve to make comp mode decent.

"old ones to return" fucking deep ones sneaking this shit into headlines
If anyone bothered to read the article (or preferably the TF2 blog) it's because they're focusing on a Pyro update (tf2 blog hinted at fixing a lot of the Pyro's problems too), improving comp and another big update and campaign. Also there's new halloween stuff but it's not a major event. it's far from the death of TF2. Ya'll need to stop falling for clickbait.
I see Valve get so much shit for TF2 yet I struggle to think of another multiplayer fps that's gotten the same amount of content and updates as it has post release.
I feel like a Team Fortress 3 would be the way to go or better yet, a re-release of Team Fortress 2 in Source Engine 2.
I feel like a Team Fortress 3 would be the way to go or better yet, a re-release of Team Fortress 2 in Source Engine 2.
A vanilla version of Team Fortress 2 that people can choose to run on their own server would be more than enough.
