Talk about cool!! Seems like the Amazon CEO is looking to make an airbag system for smartphones! I'll take one :) http://www.winbeta.org/?q=content/airbag-system-your-cell-phone
Only a problem for the morons who bought (and can't keep hold of) an iPhone which is mostly Glass.
My one solid piece aluminium desire HD laughs in the face of concrete everytime I've dropped it.
HTC Desire HD + Otterbox Defender = A solid rubberised block which feels indestructible. It's a neat idea but a good quality case goes a long way.
My one solid piece aluminium desire HD laughs in the face of concrete everytime I've dropped it.
Cheap shitty plastic ZTE Blade, the battery cover fires off and thats it. I've only dropped it on carpet though.

Most simple cases will do fine.
I have heard of a new phone called the commando. I forget who it's made by, but it is pretty indestructible.
I already see so many flaws in this
I already see so many flaws in this
This. i.e. what if it lands the other way down.
This. i.e. what if it lands the other way down.
What if I just toss my phone to my bed or I toss it to a friend. It would probably set it off and you would have to replace it
Or if it's in your pocket, and run into something or gets hit. uh oh
This is retarded, technology get's out of hand sometimes...
Or if it's in your pocket, and run into something or gets hit. uh oh
Put phone in your back pocket and then you sit down.
I'm not Michael J Fox so I don't need one, but thanks. Got a Speck Candyshell on my iPod and aside from the thin hard plastic breaking at the bottom (not like I give a fuck about the bottom part since the silicon is still intact) and well it's survived the maybe 1 time I've dropped it in 3-4 months?
My Nokia E71 laughs in the face of cement, rocks and all that jazz.
Otterboxes nearly double the size of phones, and are generally unnecessary unless you enjoy skydiving while texting. Most simple cases will do fine.
A lot of police officers have them since they tend to drop their phones... a lot.
This sounds like an engineering nightmare. And what do you do when you drop it 4 feet onto the carpet? Take it in to get the airbags reset?
I was expecting a full size airbag strapped to an iPhone
I was expecting a full size airbag strapped to an iPhone
ahahhahahaa!!
ahahhahahaa!!
A simple "Funny" rating would suffice.
Otterboxes nearly double the size of phones, and are generally unnecessary unless you enjoy skydiving while texting. Most simple cases will do fine.
They aren't that much bigger than the phone itself, I find the extra height actually makes typing in portrait mode much easier and the screen protector makes the screen easier to use outdoors. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/286964/pc/SDC11137.JPG Not to mention all the ports and switches are protected from dust/sand/mud/whatever. Don't get me wrong, I agree that for most people will not need a case of this strength. I just happen to not fall within "Most people", there are perfectly legitimate reasons to have one.
I was expecting a full size airbag strapped to an iPhone
Then sitting on it the wrong way would result in something like this:
My one solid piece aluminium desire HD laughs in the face of concrete everytime I've dropped it.
I just don't drop my phone.
My Nokia N900 feels pretty indestructible. And I'm not a retard with my hands, so I won't drop it :v:
