I played new Burnout yesterday. Still regret that I made a pre-purchase (though not that I regret spending money - I didn't, there was a bug in Origin which lets you get one game from completely empty credit card).
I have the PS3 version.
It's good as a burnout style game, but it's not a good Most Wanted sequel.
And they removed ALL the customization. You can't even select color. It's randomized.
And at least on console versions, it's got like brake assist on or something and I can't find a way to turn it off, and it is really fucking me up.

And the ass-backwards driving style (brake assist overdrive) combined with the paper-mache cars that will crash out the moment you touch a wall at a slightly wrong angle makes things get infuriating after a while.

When will racing devs learn? I want to be able to customize my cars down to the LAST detail. Even if it means implementing a key scratch mark on the body on my car just because I fucking wanted to. Seriously! How hard is that to remember? Customization!

I agree. People still play Underground 2, not because it had the best racing experience, but because you could make a sweet ride just like you imagine it.
The game handles like a clunkier Burnout and there's no customization.
rip NFS
Customization is why to this very day NFS Carbon is one of my favorite NFS games of all fucking time due to being able to customize every minute detail and place multiple layers of stickers on your car, along with the autosculpt allowing you to change values on things like bumpers and spoilers and shit.
I see a lot of people defending this games lack of customization with "the first games didn't have customization. It's going back to the "good old days""
The original need for speed games didn't have cops as well. But they added them. And they were badass. Removing them would make things retarded, and defending it with "the original games didn't have cops" would be stupid.

Oh wait they did remove cops.
And it fucking sucked ass.
Am I the only one who doesn't mind the fact that there isn't any customization? Two of my favorite NFS games lack customization other than color. I mean, it is pretty fun to modify your car, but I don't mind if it's absent. The other flaws that were mentioned do sound annoying, though.

Customization would be too much for casuals to handle, everything must be ~streamlined~
Why the fuck is this game named like the 2005 game? I'm sick of this bullshit. The first need for speed game had cops, if you went one on one with some other danm driver.

What was seriously wrong with Shift/2? While it wasn't very realistic as far as physics go, it set out to make an immersive game where going fast was actually terrifying again, and I think it did a damn good job at that.
Also every NFS game before Underground except for NFS2 had cops, and there's some evidence that cop cars were originally planned to be in the second title.
Hot Pursuit 2010 got things almost perfect for what a NFS game should be, but the driving physics were trash; there was lag on the steering that appeared to be intentionally coded in, and "tap drift to take the corner, no skill required" pissed me off.

Shift wasn't a bad game at all, it just wasn't what I'd consider a Need for Speed game though
