I'm currently buying new parts for my pre-build PC, and while installing stuff like a new GPU and RAM was easy, I reached the next step, getting a new motherboard. What happened was that my old CPU held back the Nvidia Geforce GTX 680 i got, and Facepunch recommended a combination of a Z77 and i5-3570k. Installing the CPU was a lot easier than I imagined, but I knew the motherboard would be complicated. So before I disconnected my old motherboard, I read the Quick Installation Guide, which barely helped, and I took some pictures of the wiring. I also had my old motherboard next to me when I wiried the new one so I could read what all of the inputs said. After wiring everything, I booted it up, it light up and, as far as I could tell, everything worked, but then it shut down. A second later it re-booted, without me touching it, and repeated the process.
I've taken a close look, and I can't see what's going wrong. Has anyone tried this before? By the way, I'm a rookie, so I probably did something wrong. Think about that before thinking about any malfunction :)
Thanks in advance.
Probably lack of standoffs or otherwise shorted
I forgot to add, when I turn it on, it beeps three times like "Beep beep beep".
If the computer was pre-built, then there should be a manufacturer's manual that came with it. In there should be a troubleshooting section. Usually the number of beeps depicts what the problem could relate to; RAM, cooling, PSU etc.
Have a hunt through.
On a side note, if your computer keeps switching off and on at the same point, the chances are it is a power issue. Maybe the cooling fan isn't getting enough power? I dunno I'm just brainstorming here.
And this should really be in Tech Support.
It is probably bad case airflow or no thermal paste in the CPU cooler. It happened to me too. After half a minute it would shut down to prevent exploding :v:

Thanks for helping me out, you were right. It was a lack of standoffs. Weird how it can crash from that ^^
Because it shorts the motherboard... You're lucky it didn't break.
Did you just forget to install standoffs?
Nonono, I just missed one.
