Hey guys, I was planning on getting a new comp soon. My budget is $1000 or a little bit over if need be. Live in Canada and would like to use Newegg.ca. ATI or NVIDIA work for me. Want it to be good for gaming. Thanks
When are you going to buy this?
Hopefully 2 weeks or less
Why can't more people be like you? I love the fact that it doesn't matter if it's ATi or nvidia for you.
Have a "Polite/Nice/Friendly".
Thanks, Anyway i was looking at this card
XFX HD-487A-ZHFC Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
Is that worth $165.28 or should I pay extra money for the 4890?
It's worth it.
Get the 4870 1GB, or if you can, a GTX 275. XFX has a $210 USD GTX 275 on Newegg.
Ok, and any builds you recomend with either of those cards, thats somewhere around $1000 Canadian?
Is this a good build?

that saved me alittle money
I also changed the harddrive to this
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395
In total the price changed by one dollar

Thanks for that constructive comment.
It's good, but that RAM will not work with that motherboard (look for DDR3 RAM). And yes, the 720 is very good, so switch to that (the original Phenom you had won't actually work with the motherboard anyways). The new hard drive you picked out is fine, but that PSU is overkill (trust me, my build has the same CPU, graphics card and that PSU. It only draws about 400W iirc). It's a great PSU, but you don't NEED the power and can just get a lower wattage to save some money.
Ok so should I get 500w - 550w? and DDr 3 ram and then thats a decent gaming build? Thanks for the help guys.
Look for a 550-650W PSU from Antec/Corsair/OCZ/Thermaltake/Cooler Master and you're good to go.

DDR2 RAM, DDR3 Mobo. And he only chose an old Phenom in a mobo that supports AM3. Also, overkill on the power supply.

That's...what I just said.
Ok i got this for the PSU
OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Active PFC Power Supply
This for the CPU
AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Black Processor Model
And this for the RAM
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
This is probably the most polite thread in this section.
